The US Department of Commerce will ask to introduce anti-dumping duties on Russian nitrogen fertilizers
The US Department of Commerce believes that nitrogen fertilizers supplied from Russia "are being sold or are likely to be sold in the United States at low export prices." In this regard, the agency will ask the Customs Service to introduce anti-dumping duties on these fertilizers.
This is reported by RIA Novosti.
"The US Department of Commerce has determined that a carbamide-ammonia mixture (CAS) from the Russian Federation is being sold or is likely to be sold in the US at low export prices," the draft document, which is planned to be published on the US government Orders portal, says.
The Ministry of Trade came to this conclusion based on an analysis of deliveries from April 2020 to March 2021, the agency writes.
"We will instruct the Customs Service to require a cash deposit equal to the amount of the difference between the export price and the price in the United States," the document says.
At the end of March, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department published a new general license, which actually removed Russian mineral fertilizers from possible sanctions - they were included in the list of vital products.
Maxim Oreshkin, assistant to the President of Russia for economic Affairs, in an interview with RT expressed the opinion that the mistakes of the West with excessive investments in renewable sources "raised energy prices." This led to an increase in prices for fertilizers and a decrease in their production, which, in turn, affected yields.
