FBI Director Says a Judge Accused of Helping Someone Evade Immigration Agents Has Been Arrested

Just remember, the most important aspect of it is the show of power against the court system by the extreme right.

I can say that and still be impartial. I'm a bit surprised over your position you're taking on this issue.
If you say so.

For the rest of us, I feel safe in saying that if a judge is telling a perp to use a different door so that they can evade arrest, it seems logical that the judge is interfering with ICE's duty.

Arrested a sitting judge eh?
This is significant escalation, I think.
Of course, if the judge broke the law...she deserves to be arrested.
If~

The FBI on Friday arrested a Wisconsin county judge accused of helping a man avoid immigration enforcement, Director Kash Patel said.
Patel made the announcement in a post on X and said his office believes Judge Hannah Dugan "intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse.”
Patel identified the subject as Eduardo Flores Ruiz and said Dugan’s actions allowed Ruiz to evade arrest.
The Justice Department didn't immediately have a comment Friday. A person answering the phone Friday at Dugan’s office said he could not comment. The Associated Press left an email and voicemail Friday morning seeking comment from Milwaukee County Courts Chief Judge Carl Ashley.

The arrest marks an escalation in the Trump administration’s fight with the judiciary over the White House's sweeping immigration enforcement policies. The Justice Department had previously signaled that it was going to crack down on local officials thwarting federal immigration efforts.

Patel made the announcement in an X post, which was quickly deleted. The FBI did not immediately respond to requests for comment on why the post was removed.

Patel wrote that the FBI believes Milwaukee Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan “intentionally misdirected federal agents away” from Eduardo Flores Ruiz as agents were attempting to arrest him at her courthouse last week.

“Thankfully our agents chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since, but the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public,” Patel said in the post.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday that the FBI was looking into Dugan’s conduct surrounding an attempted arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at her courthouse on April 18.

So, the initial post....has been removed? Was she really arrested?

Breaking story...much to be learned still~
And the problem they have, is they have to present their evidence in front of a, wait for it, judge.

She has been released on her own recoginzance, so it's an iffy charge to begin with.

The second problem they have, is they have now put an even worse taste in every judges mouth in the country, which they are already in hot water with now.

This was an obvious ploy to get the Garcia deportation off the front page.

The best thing the Democrats can do is keep the pressure up on the Garcia deportation, which is exactly what this was trying to deflect from.

Don't get into any direct confrontations with Trump. Which is what he wants. And don't say anything about what may or may not happen in the future.

Not the one whohad the illegal in their house. A different one.

These judges are losing their freaking minds.

“Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week,” Patel wrote.

“We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest.”

Patel added Flores Ruiz was later “chased down … on foot” and is also in custody.

Surely every Democrat on here will condemn this.

Right?

Condemn the judge's actions, not the FBI.

How should federal law enforcement react to a judge obstructing them in trying to arrest a lawbreaker?

What could they do so you would not say it is a show of power against the court system by the extreme right?

you investigate suspicion,,

innocent until proven guilty is for punishment,,

I agree. Many, if not most, arrests happen on suspicion of a crime. That's the way it's supposed to work. The lawyers present evidence and witnesses on both sides. The jury determines guilt. The judge issues the sentence.

you cant arrest on suspicion,, you investigate it,,

if theres enough evidence you arrest then,,

jury determines guilt for punishment,,

you can be guilty without a jury ever hearing the case,,

Two felonies?

I hope that's awake up call.
Well...it remains to be seen how much of this is factual, and how much of it is political. A witches brew of both, I imagine.
I note that none of this is remotely about any ruling she made, so those who think this is going to have some sort of 'chilling' effect on so-called 'activist' judges, are doomed to disappointment.

Law enforcement doesn't need a warrant to arrest someone. They need probable cause.
Persons arrested without a warrant are required to be brought before a competent authority shortly after the arrest for a prompt judicial determination of probable cause. In other words, and SCOTUS agrees, they shouldn't be deported without that judicial determination.
