Teh fact that we are discussing one instance of a elimination of one "defensive tradition", ie single sex bathrooms, in no way implies that there are not other traditions or social structures or forces in place, or where in place to protect women, or people in general.

There was no cover-up or a conspiracy to cover-up. The school reported it to the cops. Schools are not required to report every disciplinary action to their school boards. The kid has been arrested and from what I read, he's probably going to plead guilty. So what's the problem? Why are you people so fixated on this case?

What is unthinkable horrible is that the rapist was transferred to another school where he put on a skirt and raped another girl. Yes, the father went to the police. Otherwise the rapist would never have been caught. The school would have covered it up no matter how many girls were raped.

Teachers and schools, and everyone involved in child welfare is legally required to report any and all cases of sexual assault and/or abuse, when a child is involved. There are laws that protect the identity of women/girls who are raped. The father's speech before the school board would expose his daughter's identity.

The cover up is what the father was arrested for, twice. He even admits he went kind of berserk at the school when he was first inform of the incident and of the schools initial response. At the board meeting he and his wife got into some kind of altercation and the police were called. He was not speaking to the board either time. Everybody should have sympathy for him and his emotion about his daughter, however when the police arrive and say stop, it's time to stop.

"On the day of the incident, Smith says the school told him to come to the campus because his daughter had been physically assaulted. They did not say she had been sexually assaulted.

Once he got there, he says school staff told him they would handle it internally, choosing not to call the police for an as-yet unexplained reason.

He was enraged by the decision and challenged them on it. The school board then did call the police but to report Smith, not the boy, for making a scene.

'I went nuts. I called the principal a p****. Six cop cars showed up like a f****** SWAT team,' he said.

The school's principal sent out an alert that day warning parents of what had happened involving Smith, but it said nothing of the sexual assault allegations in the bathroom.

It's unclear exactly what happened next but Smith ended up at the hospital with his daughter.

There, they told doctors what happened and a rape kit was performed.

'Thank God that I drew enough attention to it, without getting arrested, that we got an escort to the hospital and they administered a rape kit that night,' he said.

The rape kit verified his daughter's claim so they took it to the police and a case was opened.

The teenager was arrested two months later - after the school board meeting - after an investigation by the sheriff's office."


So, the school did NOT report it to the police.
