I have never heard of either of these.

Facebook is boring...I made one, then got bored..and deactivated it.
Did that about 3 or 4 times......I figure if somebody wants to keep in contact with me, they should have my cell phone number...so they can text

At the top right of your profile, where it says 'home'...etc...there should be a little arrow button, pointing down.....click on that.
That opens a small tab that says Account Settings.....Privacy settings.....
Click account settings......that opens a larger window, over to your left, go to where it says SECURITY....click on that......and you'll see at the very bottom......"Click here to deactivate"
