Explain Why You Oppose A Donald Trump Presidency

I don't oppose a Donald Trump Presidency but he has not earned my vote yet.

I need to know how he plans to do the things he says he will do. I hear a lot of promises, I also hear a lot of good things from him, but I don't hear the how.

He has explained a few things. For example:

Placing a tariff on products manufactured in Mexico, Korea, Japan, China, and other countries that are imported into our country for resale. In Mexico's case, this would place a tariff on all those new cars and trucks entering and coming into Laredo, Texas every day. Such a tariff would pressure Ford Motor Company and others to moved their plants to the United States and do their manufacturing here to avoid the tariff. Such a tariff would also provide some amount of funding to secure the southern border. We have a huge trade deficit now and these tariffs would be a move to make the playing field more equitable.

We have an agreement to defend Japan militarily. Tariffs upon Japanese manufactured goods imported into this country would help offset the costs for maintaining a military presence in Japan. China is stealing and counterfeiting many American patents. We need to place tariffs upon all goods manufactured in China and imported into the United States.

So you think it's a good idea for Americans to pay higher prices for cars and trucks?

Let's have them made here. Let's buy American made.

Americans pay tariffs on foreign goods, not foreigners. I understand using them as a threat to gain leverage, but don't agree on using them as standard policy. Placing tariffs on the goods of American companies who manufacture their products overseas is something I can accept, but only because these companies are spitting on American workers.

Trump believes in raising taxes on Americans.

Actually that's what you say. The truth is, he claims he will cut taxes for the middle class. Yes tariffs are taxes. It is also an enticement to have American companies return to America to manufacture their goods. Coupled with reducing corporate taxes and government regulations these should all work together to entice some companies to return to America to manufacture their goods since we are their largest buyers. This would require their hiring American workers which will further boost the economy and increase4 the government's revenues by the employment of these Americans and the taxes they would pay. Are these concepts that difficult to understand.

Whether or not you support it is totally besides the point. No one is forcing these companies to do anything. They can remain where they are and pay the tariffs.

How does he plan to pay for increased military spending?
How does he plan to make Mexico pay for the wall?

Tariffs only increase prices for American consumers. That isn't an answer that I can support.

If you have more people employed and more businesses and corporations functioning in a strong economy, the government will receive more revenue. The tariffs along will go a long way toward paying for the wall. Also, if he actually were to go into Iraq to aid in their defense, he has said he would take over the oil fields and use the Iraqi oil to pay back for our military expenses in defense of Iraq. Also Japan pays nothing towards their defense. Since America defends Japan, why should America pay rent for the land upon which our bases are located on in Japan? That's stupid.

Did you take economics in college? Because increasing tariffs as a way to create jobs has long been discredited.

There is nothing wrong with Ted Cruz, I have a lot of respect for him myself. The problem is that a lot of people associate Ted with the government shutdown and the fact that he is now a Washington insider to a lot of folks who are fed up with Washington politics.
