Experts warn ’17 to be year of ‘smart home’ hacking

Will 2017 be the year your home becomes under attack from cyber criminals?

Experts expect the number of attacks on the Internet of Things (IoT) will likely increase in 2017. IoT includes devices like webcams, DVRs and connected thermostats that make life easier for homeowners, but are susceptible to cyber-intrusions.

As cool at technology is, the abuse you leave yourself wide open for won't become a reality until you are the victim of it. Until then all we will hear is " that's fake" , that can't happen" , that's a conspiracy.............

man if you only knew what can be done you'd never have anything to do with technology for many who do that's a chance you take to warn others .

It's simple " Anything can be hacked" no matter how much your little Gov, banks etc tell you how safe something is that is pure bs.

Best to rip out the camera and microphone from all your devices.
LOL, you know many people put tape over their computer webcam.
And your microphone can be turned on without someone knowing it, the older generation doesn't always know this.

Medical devices vulnerable to hackers - BBC News
MORE AND MORE personal and household devices are connecting to the internet, from your television to your car navigation systems to your light switches. CIA Director David Petraeus cannot wait to spy on you through them.

Mebbe legal action...

... but I doubt lethal action.
We need more than legal action. Hackers don fear legal action. They might fear death. Let's try it...

We do but that's one thing obama has been able to shut up about.

What even funnier, the Government hires these hackers, while claiming to put them to the test to see if things can be hacked. More like they use them to HACK so they can ride the sheep into giving up more rights all by saying " It keeps you safer" which is pure bs.

US Company Warns That Its Insulin Pumps Can Be Hacked
October 05, 2016 -
The U.S. firm Johnson & Johnson, one of the biggest manufacturers of medical appliances, warned this week that its insulin pumps could be hacked, meaning unauthorized persons might be able to change insulin doses of thousands of diabetes patients.

The vulnerability affects only pumps that have wireless remote control, which uses unencrypted radio frequencies, but they are not connected to the internet.
Recently it was revealed some pacemakers and defibrillators also may be open to hacking.

The company said the probability of unauthorized access to its insulin pumps "is extremely low," but it has nevertheless sent warnings to doctors' offices and more than 100,000 patients in the United States and Canada.

Insulin pumps are wearable devices that automatically adjust the release of insulin according to a diabetic's level of physical activity.
