Maybe we ought all just go hide under our beds. Everything seems to be bad for us, and there's always some "expert" telling you what you should or should not consume, drink, smoke, or do.

Warren Buffett is famous for drinking Cokes, and he's 95.

Coke isn't a problem we need to worry about.

Of course, anything consumed in large quantities will be bad for you, but moderation is the key - and in any event, we don't need the "experts" telling us what to do.

Life is short. Enjoy it.

65 grams of sugar. Insanity.

Makes me think of the late great Mickey Mantle who once said that if he knew that he was gonna live “this” long, he would have taken better care of himself.

Seriously, I'd be pissed if I were Coke. If Coke is bad, then the entire soft drink industry is bad: Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sprite, Dr, Pepper, all of them. But what about the sugar-free versions?

I drink diet-Pepsi as a mix for certain drinks, and the stuff is great. But beyond softdrinks, we have cakes, pies, ice cream, cookies, pastries--- there is literally a plethora of sugar-laden foods, and we have always known they were not good for you.

So let's get serious--- leave Coke alone or ban the entire softdrink, dessert, sweet food industry.

I understand bugs are high in protein.

Hey bring back the good ol days when there was cocaine in Coke. Maybe it would help people to calm down.

We have let corporations run amok. Regulate them bigly.

The problem with Coke is not the sugar, not the calories, the problem is vertical integration. You know the most expensive component of the Coke you drink? The damn bottle. I mean it is water, sugar, and flavoring. I have a client that used to build the damn plants. Flippin pennies, that is what it costs them.

Just throwing it out there, don't raise hell if the numbers are inaccurate, but I promise you, they are close. So, you walk into that convenience store and get you a Coke. $2.49 perhaps, probably more. How much did the convenience store pay? At least two bucks, WTF, flavored water in a plastic bottle, two bucks? And here is the thing, does the convenience store order the Coke? No, Coke does. Same at a grocery store. Coke delivers, Coke works it, from the manufacturing plant to the store shelf, Coke controls it all.

And that is the other thing. The collusion going on in the soft drink industry is off the rails. One week, Coke is on sale. Next week, Pepsi is on sale. What never happens, both on sale. Who determines that, Coke and Pepsi, the very definition of collusion.

Great story that demonstrates price discrimination, oligopoly manipulation, and where the little guy wins. Dad was a district manager for a major grocery chain. At times, responsible for more than twenty stores. At one time, the number one employer in Western North Carolina. He had been in the business a long time and was well respected. A Roses opened up a couple of blocks down from his headquarter store, had two liters on sale for seventy-nine cents, Pepsi. Dad gets hold of an invoice showing a "marketing allowance" of thirty cents per two liter. He demands the same allowance. Pepsi refuses, probably laughed at him.

Boom, next day, more than twenty stores, Pepsi suddenly loses four feet of shelf space. Merchandisers are fippin shit and Dad puts the hammer down. Four feet per day, until I get the marketing allowance. In a week, their section is all but gone. Now, it is just four feet. Comical really. And Pepsi goes to the division, management tells Dad to stand down. He tells them hell no. They push it to corporate, in Florida. They are like, where the **** is our check? Back Dad all the way.

And that is what happened. They got a fat damn check, seven figures. Now I think that is a cool story. But the takeaway is, those soft drink companies can stroke a seven figures check for two weeks of sales in one tiny little area. Their margins are immoral. Looking for tax revenue, then go get it. Plenty of meat on them bones.

We have let corporations run amok. Regulate them bigly.

Corporations lobby government with bribes, then corporations hire those attorneys, give them jobs, and pass legislation protecting them.

I didn't wear a helmet when I rode my bicycles and I drank water directly from the garden hose...

Don't even get me started on those lead paint chips and dip...

Fruit is high in sugar but they say it's 'better' sugar however, it is still sugar. I've been drinking Coke all my life and don't eat much fruit.

I only drink Mexican Coke. They use real sugar. I'm not saying it's any better for you, but I think it tastes better...

Diet is just as bad. Unnatural chemical soup.

I stick to iced tea. During the holidays I had an Orange Crush soda, I was pretty much sick the next day.

Actually, sugar is an important food energy source. Eating nothing but fruit (like grapes, cherries, etc.) are probably the best diet a person can have, proving that while excess sugar might be bad for you, sugar itself isn't nessessarily so and certainly is not as bad for you as all the crap in processed food, fats, oils, colorings and artificial chemicals.

Well, you can't make Rum & Coke without some carbonated cola. I've not had any problem with diet stuff except the Diet Coke sucks. Drink Pepsi or RC. Coke has never been right since the day they replaced it with Coke II.

Tea is great. Thanks for the idea. I love a good black tea, Oolong, and many other types.

Yeah, I've tried Orange Crush and it didn't agree with me neither. But there are other orange blends that are much better.
