Excelent Breaking News: Senate Passes Bill Approving Keystone Pipeline (Obama Pissed)

Stop with the "Canada is going to ship its oil from the Gulf to China" idiotic bullshit.

We have this big mother trucking blue thing on our west coast called the Pacific ocean. Sheesh. Didn't you take geography?

And Keystone which is just a freaking pipeline has no say in what your refineries will do with their finished product.

It's just a pipeline.

the leftists act like keystone is the only oil pipeline in the frikkin west
I act like it's a totally misrepresented political smokescreen that hides what this is at it's heart: Big Oil vs. local landowners and state politicians. Damned if you property rights big government hating assholes aren't fighting on the side of big government and imminent domain seizure of private land. How fucked up is that?

what kind of an IDIOT are you

the leftists in the area

favored a huge toxic chemical company to be developed in the area

Why do you blame race for this? Are you racist?

What the Senate just did is right for America and for Americans looking to work making money building it.

Senate approves Keystone pipeline bill in face of White House veto threat Fox News
Nothing like passing a bill that has nowhere to go and you don't have the votes to beat a veto. Our wonderful Congress hard at work, doing nothing at all.
They just passed a bill that would create jobs. What's not to like about that?
It very much depends upon what the jobs are leading to. In this case it's something we need like a whole in the head.
The jobs will lead to 14hr a day workshifts creating hefty paychecks for pipeliners and their families. Those paychecks will be spent in the local small town economies (that the pipeline will run near) creating tax revenue. I have a bunch of friends making a fortune in the Bakken Field working on pipelines. They're bringing in around 10k a month. Now what's the negativity in all that?

What are YOU doing with a "Smart" phone? Bit of a compatibility issue, doncha think? Or is it supposed to radiate into your brain?

Hey maybe you can blame this "Smartphone" for the bogus quotes in your sigline.
It's only as smert as the user...

Then I should probably go back to my old dum phone. :(

I remember Obama saying stuff like that when he wanted an infrastructure stimulus.

we'll see how much the price of oil drops after Keystone is complete, and unemployment does whatever it does whenever it does ... there better be a big increase in jobs or decline in unemployment ... either way.

Plenty of jobs could be created doing something that actually makes America a better place to live. The jobs argument is disingenuous anyway. When Obama was trying to stimulate the economy with infrastructure projects the republicans' main issue was these jobs would be temporary and short term. They claimed that short-term jobs are not stimulative.

The Keystone pipeline is supposed to take two years with various numbers working at any given time and yet these short term jobs are so fucking valuable to the country that we will not recover from the loss if the project is not passed, according to republicans.

Never use the jobs argument again for Keystone.

Thousands of men and women mostly skilled union workers have already been well paid for building Keystone I, II, III and III b) which is under construction as we post.

XL would also employ American skilled workers. The jobs argument is valid.

Ask your State Department.

not to mention the jobs at the refineries created and maintained because of the pipeline delivering oil

Refineries are already maxed. You can't just pour more into the hopper.
Try again...

then it is time to make a few more refineries

which = more jobs

Again, that would be up to Big Oil. That's who builds refineries. They haven't added any in something like four decades. And if you think the current market needs more supply, have a second career in mind because you won't be in business long.

What the Senate just did is right for America and for Americans looking to work making money building it.

I take it you love to see Obama wreck the Ship Of State?
I love it when Obama tells to the GOP to go fuck themselves, as in this case where China wants its oil and Canada it's profits. What we get is the mess.

Stop with the "Canada is going to ship its oil from the Gulf to China" idiotic bullshit.

Well aren't all the anti Keystone people just a tad late to the party?

Where was everyone in the past? Where was everyone just a couple of years ago when the Alberta Clipper and Southern Lights was approved by the US government? Or for all the other legs of the Keystone that is now complete?

Or for all of these pipelines? Why only the XL?

Could it be that a major donor called Warren Buffet has been making a killing with his rail lines carrying the crude to refineries because of the block on the XL by Democrats?

Could it be that Democrats received millions in donations from Steyer and stand in line to get more in 2016 by trying to block the Keystone?

Could it be that the enviro whackos receive heavy funding from the likes of the Ford Foundation? By the way there's an investigation into US foundations like Tides helping pay for stunts like Neil Young on stage with a rent a chief from the Athabasca region during an anti Keystone concert.

There's big money in this for the *cough* concerned environmental groups.

Where were they for all of these? No money I guess for Democrats or enviro whackos.

Why not approve the pipeline?
Why approve the pipeline? All the arguments for it are certifiable bullshit. Republicans made this into a national political issue to speed up the stalled approval process and are getting political opposition they never counted on. If they had just let the legal process proceed and the oil company had just dealt patiently and fairly with the locals the thing would probably be getting built right now.

we'll see how much the price of oil drops after Keystone is complete, and unemployment does whatever it does whenever it does ... there better be a big increase in jobs or decline in unemployment ... either way.

The Keystone is complete and has been running full boar from Alberta to the Gulf for over a year now. Picking up domestic production from the Cushing terminal as well.

XL is simply a northern extension of an already existing pipeline.

Here's the thank yous from the men and women who worked on the southern leg a couple of years ago from Cushing to the Gulf.

4,844 thank yous

TransCanada is recognizing the thousands of men and women who have helped build the Gulf Coast Pipeline Project, an oil pipeline designed to deliver American and Canadian crude oil to Texas refineries. The workers who helped build this project are in addition to the thousands who constructed the initial Keystone Pipeline system, and we remain hopeful that we will have the opportunity to employ thousands more on the final leg of the Keystone system – Keystone XL.

“Over the past 15 months, 4,844 workers in America have given their best efforts to building a critical, modern piece of American energy infrastructure from Cushing, Oklahoma to Nederland, Texas, and we want to thank each and every one of them for their efforts,” said Russ Girling, TransCanada’s president and chief executive officer.

“Their dedication to working safely, building high-quality energy infrastructure and taking pride in their work has helped bring this project closer to reality.”

The original Keystone Pipeline, which has been in operation since 2010 and safely delivered almost 490 million barrels of oil, required 8,969 people to build the pipeline and its related facilities.

Manufacturing of the pipe, pump stations, specialized equipment and advanced technology for the Gulf Coast and Keystone XL Pipeline projects also support about 7,000 positions.

Shove your conspiracy theories, some of the locals do not want this thing crossing their property and have it tied up in court. Republicans want to use the power of the federal government to force them to grant an easement because the Big Oil lobbyists have been hammering them relentlessly. That's all there is to it.

Good to see repubs working on something we don't need.

Funny how you aren't mad at the Democrats who voted for it. Good to see you're still a fan of double standards.

I'll give Heidi Heitkamp D from North Dakota giant kudos for fighting for her state to get the XL for the Bakken oil fields. She's never given up. I have a lot of respect for her.

Oh no. These aren't conspiracy theories. Buffet's rail way has made a killing. Steyer put in 80 million in the mid terms and has put more into groups lobbying to block the Keystone. Hell's bells throw in the Ford Foundation. They've been funnelling money into anti Keystone activities as well.

All of this is on record. Revenue Canada (our version of the IRS) is investigating the links between all these anti Keystone supporters and so called "charitable" organizations up here.

Just facts. I can back up all my claims. How much do you want because I'm loaded for bear?

Here's Buffet for example. Bloomberg news. Major Democrat donor.

Buffett’s Burlington Northern Among Pipeline Winners

Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Warren Buffett’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC is among U.S. and Canadian railroads that stand to benefit from the Obama administration’s decision to reject TransCanada Corp.’s Keystone XL oil pipeline permit.

With modest expansion, railroads can handle all new oil produced in western Canada through 2030, according to an analysis of the Keystone proposal by the U.S. State Department.

“Whatever people bring to us, we’re ready to haul,” Krista York-Woolley, a spokeswoman for Burlington Northern, a unit of Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc., said in an interview. If Keystone XL “doesn’t happen, we’re here to haul.”

Will oil state Democrats sit back and let jobs be lost?

I do think so.

Then they'll stand bare-bottomed as their Kenyan Emperor heats up the branding iron and stamps each of them on those asses with "Party of NO". I wouldn't trust His aim, though, so some of them may take it up the ass without having to wait for the next election.
