If you bothered to read a geology text you'd know the plates have plenty of ways to move. They can slide past each other like at the San Andres. They can go under another like in Japan. They can move away from each other like in Iceland. My favorite since I was there and had a foot in North America and one in Europe. There you can measure the movement for yourself, it's about the same rate as your fingernails grow.
