Nobody adandoned anything. The founders set up a structure where they had executive control for a specified time then leadership would change. This is a good strategy. It maintains permanence and allows for consistent orgnizational agility relative to issue affecting their target population. Nobody has cut and run with the money, and considering the grift that occurred with the NRA, you need to STFU.
