Like I already said elsewhere, the Dims haven't thought this through. No matter how this flies, this is a no win for them.

If the impeachment effort fails, the nation rallies behind Trump and the democrats eat crow.
If the House impeachment effort succeeds, it will be on such specious grounds that the nation rallies behind Trump and the democrats eat crow.
If the House impeachment effort is stopped by the Senate, the nation rallies behind Trump and the democrats eat crow.
But even if somehow the Senate goes through with it, they only get Pence instead.

The more the Dems push this, the more obvious that the Dems have been after this by any and all means possible since day one, only the excuse for doing it has changed.
