Ever say something STUPID?

Some years ago, a friend and I happened to be in a 7-11 store in Virginia. We had gotten our stuff and headed up to the check-out counter to pay and then leave the store. My friend paid for his stuff first, gathered up his goodies and was about to walk out of the door. Dummie, me. I yelled out to him, HOLD UP. The poor clerk about had a heart attack, hit some sort of an alarm and police began to show up like ants at a picnic. After being well searched, questioned, and my story told about a dozen times about what actually happened, the police called me a lower life form and suggested I be a little more careful with my choice of words in the future. Just wondering - anybody else ever did anything this stupid before?
