European diplomats are preparing to underpin sanctions on Russia anticipating that a return of former U.S. president Donald Trump could undermine Western efforts to isolate Moscow, sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters.
The talks among EU officials and envoys are centred on several initiatives to ensure that European sanctions would remain in place longer term, bolstering them through tighter enforcement, even if Washington changes tack.

One more smart move by them, coupled with the new agreements between England and Germany.

The US is no longer a reliable ally. In the past allies could count on continued support regardless of who might win an election. That is no longer the case with the US.

So they are going to start to assist America in their own theatre of influence?

About time isn't it?

America is in debt $36T. Europe better understand that they need to do their part regardless of who wins in a couple of weeks.

It is always so clear who did not even bother to open the link in the OP

Fuck those socialist idiots. Let them waste their time and money on Co2 FRAUd and Ukraine.

It is always so clear who did not even bother to open the link in the OP

Well the lunatics masquerading as the UK government pledged £3.5 Billion a year for EVER to that failed Gangster State of Ukraine, at a time when we need all the money we can get for our own people.

I've no problem with the EU slags bankrupting themselves with Lesser Russia.....Have at it.

The RINO neocons, Uke-bros, and the dem grifters here are gonna be pissed when Trump cuts the money spigot off.

To underpin sanctions on Russia? Those idiots have learned nothing in the last three years. These sanctions damage European economy and industry, cutting it off from Russian markets, transit routes, abundance in energy etc. What they should do is to find a way of the current crisis and get back to 'do business as usual'.

They can't or won't because they take orders from the US who want Europe out of the game, they have sacrificed their own interests on the Altar of US interests, the SOBs should be charged with treason, meanwhile Russia is booming their economy set to grow to 4% by next year.

Trump will do anything to help Iran and China's most important ally, of course

Germany and France are half way down the plug hole and my Country is run by a closet Gay completely under orders from Deep State .

The EU looks really strong !!!
And the US is bankrupt

Your OP might have been more realistic if it had looked at which would first disappear .
The EU ,
Or , NATO .
And the bottom line Deep State project is to wreck the US .

Wow .

But the OP was about 'moving ahead without the US'. It would be somewhat strange to move without them by following their most stupid policy on the European continent.

Yeah, this makes sense due to all the countries Russia invaded when Trump was pres before!

Europe should have plenty of resources to take on the Ruskies from the billions they have saved by stiffing NATO,

... meanwhile Russia is booming their economy ...

Let me guess: You sell cactuses without spines and your salespeople reinforce their arguments for this vital part with Kalashnikovs and that's how you make millions of billions every week?
