EU making plans for moving ahead without the US.

European diplomats are preparing to underpin sanctions on Russia anticipating that a return of former U.S. president Donald Trump could undermine Western efforts to isolate Moscow, sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters.
The talks among EU officials and envoys are centred on several initiatives to ensure that European sanctions would remain in place longer term, bolstering them through tighter enforcement, even if Washington changes tack.

One more smart move by them, coupled with the new agreements between England and Germany.

The US is no longer a reliable ally. In the past allies could count on continued support regardless of who might win an election. That is no longer the case with the US.
I expect trump call the Euro’s bluff by demanding sanctions on Iran along with russia

A truly sad post... but very accurate. Our people cannot be trusted to side with democracy and freedom. Half of this place is delusional.

Well the lunatics masquerading as the UK government pledged £3.5 Billion a year for EVER to that failed Gangster State of Ukraine, at a time when we need all the money we can get for our own people.

The problem is, the Ukraine is too close, and the EU needs to contain Russia at some point. The longer they leave it, the worse and more expensive it gets.

Let me guess: You sell cactuses without spines and your salespeople reinforce their arguments for this vital part with Kalashnikovs and that's how you make millions of billions every week?
He was already president once, explain please.

That's OK... you've been crouching under the American Shield for 80 years now... it's time you handle things on your own again.

We went to very great time-and-trouble to prop you up until you could stand on your own feet again, and that time has come.

Wake us up when the Russians get to Warsaw.

So, they don't even need Trump to settle that conflict for them?

Good. The U.S. has no dog in that fight.

Our relations with the nations of Europe has never been ally to ally, it has been protector to protectorate.

Looking at Ukraine's history, the only nation to which it has been a strong ally was Germany in the early forties.

Do you know of any help they have given the U.S. since then?

The only good thing to say about the Harris-Biden administration is that even though the MIC and the media were beating the Trump Bad-Russia Bad drum trying to get us into a ground war in Europe again, somehow their handlers managed to keep them from pulling the trigger on that.

I'm not sharpshooting, I'm asking because i don't know:

What is the significance of forcing them to pay in Rubles? What did they want to pay in?

Is this the pipeline that Harris-Biden let them build that Trump would not, that Harris-Biden threatened to blow it up if Russia invaded Ukraine and that was blown up subsequent to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia?

The explosion that was the worst environmental disaster of this century, dwarfing all of the carbon emissions since the Industrial Revolution?

The decision to transfer payments into rubles creates a positive mood in favor of strengthening the Russian currency against the American currency in the long term, notes Sergey Konygin, an analyst at the Sinara investment bank: "We see two additional advantages of this measure: firstly, ruble payments cannot be frozen, confiscated, arrested, etc., and secondly, an increase in the share of settlements in the national currency of Russia will increase interest in the ruble derivatives market - ruble futures."

An important factor may be a reduction in the risks of blocking payments for Russian gas due to new EU sanctions or other political measures, agrees Igor Galaktionov, an expert at BCS Express. Now payments for gas will be made in the ruble jurisdiction and the risks of non-payment in theory fall on European consumers

About time. We don't want your endless wars. You and Dick Cheney can enjoy that on your own.

To underpin sanctions on Russia? Those idiots have learned nothing in the last three years. These sanctions damage European economy and industry, cutting it off from Russian markets, transit routes, abundance in energy etc. What they should do is to find a way of the current crisis and get back to 'do business as usual'.
They can't fart without a green light from the US they are pathetic,Germany put their Country into recession for the Empire, VW are closing factories because of energy costs they helped blow up their own pipeline now they pay more for imported US gas transported half way round the world, they asked for all they get.

Germany lost its sovereignty in the post-War period, and it has now a whole generation of politicians who view it only as 'subject' in international affairs.
