Trump "terminated" Defense Secretary Mark Esper when he disagreed with sending active-duty troops to help quell street protests in Washington, D.C.
Esper said: "Who's going to come in behind me? It's going to be a real 'yes' man. And then God help us."
"Other than Esper, the officials who signed off on the letter include former Defense secretaries Ashton Carter, William Cohen, Robert Gates, Chuck Hagel, James Mattis, Leon Panetta and William Perry, and former chairs of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey, Joseph Dunford, Michael Mullen, Richard Myers and Peter Pace."
