Special English zones proposed as part of Cool Japan tourism initiative Japan Today Japan News and Discussion

"In an effort to expand upon the “Cool Japan” initiative, a program intended to broaden foreign tourists’ knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture and industries, a committee of specialists has submitted a proposal that includes establishing “special English zones” in large cities where English would be one of the officially spoken languages."


Interesting idea for promoting tourism. I wonder if it is feasible and if it could be implemented in other places.

yeah, we do that in Los Angeles already. its called the Spanish zone (; gee, but that is pretty nice of the Japanese to do that for us English speakers
