Last year covid deaths were disproportionately urban, in some states almost exclusively so. With shutdowns and less travel, exposure in rural areas was significantly reduced. What you are suggesting ignores what's already happened in urban areas. Sounds more like panic porn than a real issue for concern.

Before the vaccine, the pandemic spread more rapidly in more populous areas, especially more cosmopolitan ones. Since then, it is rampant in rural areas as was predicted. That is the current reality.

Remdesivir had been approved for Covid treatment, but must be given by IV or injection at hospitals or medical clinics, and is in short supply. Merck's pill works by interfering with an enzyme the coronavirus uses to copy its genetic code and reproduce itself. Five days of taking the Merck pill (Molnupiravir) was found to cut Covid hospitalizations and related deaths in half, according to a company press release.
