Even if you believe Israel should not lose US charity due to the 1976 Symington Amendment (which forbids aid to rogue nuclear regimes), the latest example of ethnic cleansing in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem should end the weasel worded BS that assigns some utterly mendacious moral equivalency between occupier and occupied:
"MAY 14, 2021
"Militant right-wing Jewish settlers encouraged and protected by the government of
corrupt Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are
trying to evict hundreds of Palestinian families from homes they have owned for decades in East Jerusalem, the Arab-dominated future capital of a Palestinian state if one is ever established.
"The settlers argue in court that the land in question was originally owned by a Jewish trust and should revert accordingly.
"However, as
The New York Times notes, the apartheid regime treats people differently depending on their ethnicity: 'Israeli law allows Jews to reclaim ownership of land they vacated in 1948, but denies Palestinians the right to reclaim the properties they fled from in the same war.'"
Setting aside the religious aspects of this,
Israel is an apartheid regime.
But
Prior to 1948 the British and Arabs ran apartheid states.
If Israel actually freed up its political system and Palestinians took control is there any doubt they would return the favor?
It would be nice if they could just say "Hey, you go be a Muslim and I'll go be a Jew and I'll see you Sunday!"
and
Polls on both sides indicate a clear majority would love to take religion out of the politics.
So the question is how does both sides eliminate the inciters who push violence for their personal political power.
In the US he had an election.
Here's hoping Biden will be able to influence both sides.
All military aid on both sides should be on the table.
As well as UN sanctions
Weapons blockades
No fly zone
If neither side will move
lock them in a room, winner take all.
The threat of that conflagration could move the majorities on both sides to act.
