Well, this is awkward.

Lawyers for America PAC and its director, Chris Young, said the group doled out the funds based on who would be the best spokespeople for its pro-Trump agenda, despite the billionaire's assertion that winners would be chosen randomly.

Young, America PAC's director, testified that he selected winners out of a pool of candidates who appeared in videos for the group and allowed it to use their images after reviewing their social media and meeting them outside event venues.

John Summers, a lawyer for Krasner's office, said the admissions that the giveaway was not random made it not just an illegal lottery but also a fraud.

I thought the judge ruled in his favor though thst is was fine. It is random for the winner though, right? They didnt know they were going to win, it's tricky in that respect.

Are you serious?
Yes I saw a headline on Fox News that the judge said it was legal. I suspect this is because everyone joined but they didn't know beforehand they would win. Look, I'm not the judge obviously but if they accepted the method as being legal it must be for a reason. Look here:

Pennsylvania judge allows Elon Musk's PAC to continue $1M a day giveawayPennsylvania judge allows Elon Musk's PAC to continue $1M a day giveaway. Pennsylvania judge allows Elon Musk's PAC to continue $1M a day giveaway

Kinda like the ACA penalty. It's not a tax unless you're talking to SCOTUS, then 100% it's a tax.... Lawyers gonna lawyer.

facepalm

You....don't seem to be getting it.

Yes, the judge ruled in Musk's favor, and allowed the "giveaways" to continue. But not because it was a legal lottery. Because the PAC admitted that it's not a lottery at all.

The "winners" are not winners of anything. They were pre-selected individuals, who were chosen from rally attendees, who agreed to sign over rights to use their image in photos and video, and who the PAC decided would be "good spokespersons" after screening their social media accounts. The "giveaway" is in fact a payment for services, according to the PAC.

The whole thing is a sham. There never was a lottery.

I do get it but technically it was random.because they didn't know until presented with the million dollar offer that they would be hired I guess. It smelled fishy from the beginning really, the reactions from the wunners was underwhelming.

That's not what random means, you idiot.
