One point of FYI, I spent several years making composite parts for the 757 and 767. Composites were usually carbon or glass fiber and were prepreged with resin (uncured plastic). Except for the Engines, landing gear, and key structure framework - spars, mount points/plates, 'keel', bulkheads, etc.; about 90%+ of the aircraft body (and interior) is PLASTIC (petroleum byproduct).

Modern airlines made with large amounts of composites have as much plastic as your typical scale model kit of them.

This means once ignited and burning, it's not just the jet fuel combusting, but also the bulk of the aircraft structure itself that will burn. A lot of fuel for adding to the heat of the flame.

In the case of buildings, with synthetic interiors; carpets, furniture, fixtures, flooring and walls, people occupying, etc. these become added fuel into the fires, pumping up the heat.
