Elon Musk Wants To Simplify the Tax Code

She said that such a simplification “reduces errors and saves time on tax preparation.” It would also plug loopholes that allow sophisticated taxpayers to exploit ambiguities and potentially increase fairness and compliance.

You can put tax deductions available to working Americans on one page.

There are hundreds of pages of tax deductions available to the wealthy and business.

If you want to simplify things, look at the hundreds of pages

According to the Constitution, TAXES ARE ILLEGAL.

But I do understand SOME parts of government need money to do their jobs.

There should be a ONE TAX system. ONE TAX, from sales of goods and services, NOT from peoples paychecks. One Tax that can only be raised .005% per year, but the people have to vote on it, so the government HAS to prove to The People WHY they require more of OUR money.

This way, WE keep tabs on OUR money being used by the government. And if WE don't like it, THEY have to find other ways to get the money. Lets say, like taking a pay cut.
Resentment Against All But the Biggest Freeloaders

Confiscate the unearned income produced through trust funds and large inheritances and you won't have to pay any income taxes. Birth privileges block or limit opportunities for those who can't mooch off their Daddies' success.

Allowing this root of all evil is slavish and self-hating. It's as stupid and destructive as letting a pro athlete pass on his position to his son.

No legitimate scholar says taxes are theft

Taxes are the price we pay to live in a civilized society
Oliver Wendell Holmes
Well then, this country is full of dumbassed "scholars".

You need 90 days observation.

Yeah, let's make only a sales tax because.... it benefits the RICH.

Let's get rid of all taxes that don't benefit the rich, let's get rid of all taxes that are better for poorer people, because "FUCK THE POOR"

The Tax Code is the means that Congress uses to dispense favors to big donors and other friends. There are deductions and credits and exclusions riddled throughout its hundreds of pages, planted there as the "quo" part of the old quid pro quo.

Other than Congress-persons and the beneficiaries of these provisions, EVERYBODY wants the Tax Code simplified.

A FLAT TAX is literally the only solution, with deductions for actual living costs, so that The Poor aren't made even more wretched by the tax code.

But Congress will never do it; see my first paragraph above. And the Media would also fight it as giving away the store to The Rich.
Define rich

If Elon Musk wants to simplify the tax code, why doesn’t he start with the hundreds of exemptions he qualifies for?

See that big yellow slice?
Not just rich but Fucking Rich
Ok, I'll rephrase it. Are you considered rich if you $10k, $50k, $300k, $1m, or $1bn in assets? Or does it have to be money? If it's $1bn, are you considered not rich if you're $10 short of that?

Any number I list, you will say…
But what if you are $10 below that?

Not playing

There is no flat tax that does not reduce taxes on the rich and increase for working Americans
That's why you include a large personal deduction. To the poor, it's a Godsend. To the wealthy, it's irrelevant.

Goal needs to be revenue neutral

Cutting taxes on the wealthy means the money has to come from somewhere else

Not if we cut spending at the same time, and there is a lot of waste that can be cut before services are affected.
