Bill Gates, the former richest man on earth is no longer the richest because he gave away his wealth. He formed the Gates Foundation with the intent of using his wealth to help people suffering around the world. Vaccinations, clean water, sanitation….all to reduce famine and plague

Elon Musk will be known as the man who dismantled USAID and stopped the US from providing food, healthcare, housing to starving people around the world.

And that gap will (and is) being filled by China with its “belt and road” program, emphasizing areas with strategic resources. The chaos and ill will created by our chaotic closures will only benefit countries like China. Ironic, isn’t? China has been designated our “enemy” yet we are short sightedly aiding them. Given the lack of training in ethics, signed ethics agreements, sufficient security clearances…has any monetary value been assigned yet to possible (no face it, probable) data breaches…or the selling of information to other entities or nations given the ties of some of the people involved? Or the use of confidential data to persecute supposed “enemies of the people”?

Condoning corruption to fight corruption is seldom a good strategy.

There is only one way you address it ... And that is looking for it and capturing the failures and fraud.

My objections are not rooted in my politics in this case (though my views of right/wrong and what programs should be cut or not drive my politics).

My objections are that I do not believe that the wholesale destruction of our institutions (driven by political interests) benefits America and her interests. Nor do I believe a President ruling by EO (at an unprecedented level) in order to do this is good for our country.

You act like the only way to do something is through an existing corrupt inefficient government program. If you choose to be so simpleminded, well, that’s on you. There are private institutions that do a far better job of humanitarian aid, like the Catholic Church. Our money would go a lot further to helping more people get food, water, shelter etc worldwide if we gave them half the funds that we gave USAID.
