Edward R Murrow recognized the good TV could do in informing the electorate. But he warned about how the temptation to use it for profit as opposed to the public good was a grave danger.
Democracy takes work. It requires the electorate to inform itself. Not spend our free time being sold laundry detergent while watching race cars go around in a circle. Or the latest reality TV freak show.

Here is a reform that would come in handy right about now.
-Expediting judicial review of congressional demands for records in relation to oversight and impeachment. The Supreme Court has now made clear that congressional subpoenas in support of its oversight of executive authority are valid and subject to judicial review. During the House of Representatives’s impeachment inquiry into President Trump, the administration flatly refused to comply with subpoenas for Ukraine-related documents, despite Congress’s general oversight authorities and investigative powers for the purposes of impeachment. And although the House responded by including in the articles of impeachment a charge for obstructing Congress, it avoided challenging the administration’s behavior in court because doing so would simply take too long. Likewise, Congress’s subpoena for the testimony of one of the president’s advisers has been pending for nearly two years. This history makes clear that the lack of an expedited process for reviewing conflicts between Congress and the president can have the unintended effect of immunizing executive action from congressional scrutiny. It is well within Congress’s power to mandate the expedited judicial consideration of such matters, setting affirmative time limits that bind the courts to act more quickly.

So I'm watching the news yesterday and the lead was that there was "voter intimidation" going on! The story relates how someone dropping off a ballot at a ballot drop off location noticed that several people were sitting in lawn chairs about 70 yards away video taping them and apparently taking down their license plate numbers...something that they felt was "intimidating"!
So ask yourself WHY that would be intimidating to anyone? The reason that those people are sitting in those lawn chairs is to make sure multiple ballots aren't being dumped in that drop off location by the same person or persons. They are there with the stated goal to protect the validity of the election...to prevent election fraud from taking place. Now you might think that they're wasting their time...especially if you don't think election fraud took place in the last election...but why would anyone be upset that they're sitting there making sure it DOESN'T occur this time? The only answer I can think of is that there is someone who would LIKE to dump a bunch of ballots but now can't because the ballot drop boxes are being monitored!
