Damn...sometimes Stossel is dead on the money.
No surprises here, but worth reading to remind ourselves at just how ridiculous, ineffective and outrageously expensive a government ran - union operated entity can be.

Albert Shanker, the teachers' union president who, years ago, first turned teachers unions into a national political force, was even more honest. Shanker callously said, "When school children start paying union dues, that's when I'll start representing the interests of school children."

Yeah, the truth should hurt. Teachers cannot be professional and be in a union. That's the conflict.

Years ago, you could lump the professions of doctor, lawyer, teacher together because they required higher educations are were professionals. Now you can see teachers on strike, dressing like their students in class and sometimes making ludicrous decisions we read about in the paper.

Teachers have a choice to make. Either be professional or act like Teamster. I wish they would choose a professional. Dump the union.
