Economists trump cited on tariff math says he got it all wrong

I could find none, and I am usually pretty decent with multiple search arguments.
Someone posted a hit article (they thought) against the tariffs but they overlooked the one paragraph which had a bunch of corporate heads all in favor. Think it was Dr Phosphorus.

CNBC not an economist but WTF?

Trump is selling that tariffs are the problem for America's trade imbalance. I'm not buying it.
Neither are economist. But trump thinks he is never wrong.

Well kinda is when countries have tariffs at 30%, to 100+% for goods we're shipping.

I see tariffs as a corporate tax and with both candidates in last November elections calling on socking it to our corporations, I felt either way America was screwed.

I'm wishing for the best, so hopefully Trump is right. It'll be easy enough to judge based on America's future export and trade balance figures. I'm just glad to be retired and don't have a job riding on Trump's gamble.

Well I have a business and a 401K riding on it and hope isn’t a strategy.

Put hope in one hand and shit in the other… clap your hands and what do you have..

basically even our friends are boning us! well good to know......

still Germany is a fraction of the USA, so we basically import cars from them but they really don't need our cars or anything we make, alright
SK, same thing, import their cars, they keep their cars and besides samsung and LE for computer parts and tv's we don't import anything else.

these numbers do look spot on for what we import and need and what they import they need from the USA, not sure tariffs are going to change that in a big way unless you want your smart tv that costs 400 now to be 2000

we are big and we import a lot, these countries are small, they don't import that much from the USA

VW, BMW hyundai and kia have plants here.........WHY are we importing their cars? no import, no tariff

even mercedes has a plant here.........

I am jaded in that if you want a good german car it's made in germany but you are going to pay extra for it

still.......for domestic production everybody has a US plant

Quite a collection of nobodies

Kinda like George Papalapolous being named as Trump’s foreign policy guru
angry you got passed over? what do you know about him and his history to just pan the guy?

You ever hear of any of them before?

No? Neither has anyone else

This is all Peter Navarro’s wet dream

I don't follow the gov't like a fanatic, I don't know who most of these people are but if they are there they must have a qualification to be there, not for me to judge, It won't impact my daily life that I know of so not not on my high priority list of stress

China doesn't allow their currency to float, they erect barriers to trade and outright block foreign competition, you have NO legal recourse in China if you have a dispute, they apply tariffs, use slave labour (often in the shadows since few operate on the ground there, similar to Stalins gulags which the West didnt know about), they aggressively fund and demand ownership in domestic companies to flood markets and destroy competition until they have a monopoly.

On and on. I haven't even gotten into the IP theft, spying, poisoning of Americans etc.

A 50% tariffs against Chinese products is a gift. If they knew 30 years ago that they would be able to get away with all they have, they would happily trade their situation today from where they were then, even if being hit with a 150% tariff.

Yes, however Trump could have put tariffs on China and explained why he's putting tariffs there. Say this tariff for currency manipulation, this tariff for this other thing. Instead he just goes "wham" and he's not giving the CCP any face saving mechanism.

I'm not a Dem but here you go....

yep, almost every major country has a protection tariff on something they make that other's need but they don't want imported as that will hurt the companies that make that product for themselves
rice, raw good like iron, copper, timber, it's a long list

Yet in spite of all its flaws globalist libs are enthralled by the Middle Kingdom

because they think they have an absolute God-given right to the lowest price for everything they buy

But it looks like many people still don't realize that it's not the other country who pays....WE (consumers) pay, through higher prices, as the importers pass the cost down to us.

Tariffs are a tax. It is surreal to me to see so many Republicans cheering for one of the largest tax hikes in US history, if not the largest.

I

I just did a search to find which economist agree with Trump on Tariffs, but could not find any. Who Are they? Do you know any of note?

Just tells you that Goggle as ever is working to instructions ..

Trumpfy is lowering the US$ value as tasked and as economists are completely uninvolved with Deep State strategy, .their gormeless theorising is irrelevant .

Here's the thing, Lesh, most of those names are economists, but
The Legacy media isn't going to be publishing or interviewing
economists that are pro tariffs. Don't forget that Trump gets
93% bad press. So even though you won't admit to that, it
has been proven and should be considered.
