Economists call Trump a liar.

While I strongly recommend that President Trump tread carefully in order to avoid the pitfalls caused by the Smoot-Hawley Tariff of 1929-30

his tariffs are imposed by an EO not an Act so he should be able to adjust or cancel them if push comes to shove.

The worse thing for the economy is things being unstable.

I've seen Trumpsters call last week's market meltdown a regular correction.

Trump's habitual, childlike, obvious, flagrant lying has fully metastasized throughout the GQP. He validates it.

As many have noted, when someone tells you who they are, believe them.

Trump doesn't care.

The article is complete nonsense. Trump Admin only referenced the Sodebery article for the elasticity coefficient they used, nothing else.

Another pknopp thread fail.

If true, someone is about to lose their job. LOL

Seems Trump used the words and studies to justify his tariffs and they are saying they did no such thing.

Not uncommon for Trump. He isn't too concerned over truth or accuracy, all he expects is for you to worship him.

The emails started hitting Anson Soderbery’s inbox at about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. An economist at Purdue University, friends and acquaintances were reaching out to let him know that the Trump administration had just cited one of his papers as grounds for the steep tariff rates it would impose on America’s trade partners, which the president had unveiled on giant poster boards during a Rose Garden speech hours earlier.

A few of the notes jokingly congratulated him. But how did he really feel? “Confused,” Soderbery told Yahoo Finance. After all, he said, his study had been written to discourage exactly the kinds of policies Trump was rolling out. Certainly, nobody from the administration had consulted with him.

Cherry picking for like minded ideologues are we?

Expected.

It is worth mentioning that the main intended beneficiaries of Trump's tariffs are working-class Americans. The reaction of Democrats is therefore at odds with their often-professed love of "the working man." Or in HRC's language, "hard-working Americans."
When Democrats say "working families," they actually mean NON-working NON-families.

As they should. He is totally ignorant. He should have actually taken that course , instead of sending other students to do his homework.

We've already got over 50 counties calling us to make trade deals. It's about time we stopped letting other countries take advantage of us.

Anyone can find it with a little bit of looking. You get no respect for what you do, so don't expect reaction beyond what you earn.
So, you have no proof that I said that before and yet you accuse me anyway. Funny how your side are always saying that Trump said this or that, "without evidence" and yet you can't provide any evidence yourself of what you say.

You get respect when you earn it. Get to it, skippy.

LOL. Wow. So you admit you think you can say anything the hell you want against me without providing any evidence at all and then claim I don't deserve the respect of you proving what I said and, in fact, demand that I provide proof of my innocence when you can't even prove your charges against me.

I admit you are a flakey who can't argue. You don't deserve respect until you earn it.

You admit it.
