Say some sour grape warmers who cant come up with a rational explanation for how CO2 might start El Niño events in the same place every time?
Typical fail...
Climatology uses 100 year averages, due in part, that the average temperature over 20 or so El Nino cycles "average out" it's effect ... even better is to use 1,000 year averages ...
We do have early Spanish Empire records that document the fisheries collapses that occur periodically off the coasts of Peru and Ecuador starting in the 16th Century ... typically around Christmas time thus the name "The Baby [Jesus]" ...
It still hasn't been explained why El Nino warming occurs East-to-West but the mid-oceanic ridges there run North-to-South ... nor why the same type of mid-oceanic ridge off the coast of California doesn't produce any warming in spite a multitude of magnitude 4 to 6 earthquakes ...
