Ethan Couch crash: Drink driving teen who killed four is spared jail 'because he's rich' | Mail Online

11 December 2013

A judge has let off a 16-year-old boy who killed four people while driving drunk after the teen's lawyers claimed his rich parents spoiled him and never taught him about consequences.

Ethan Couch of Keller, Texas, had faced 20 years behind bars but walked away with 10 years of probation Tuesday, something that angered his victims' families.

Couch's blood alcohol reading was .24 and he also had a Valium in his system after he and a group of friends stole alcohol from Walmart, drank it and later piled into his pick-up truck. Driving 70 miles in a 40 miles per hour zone, he struck and killed four pedestrians as well as injuring two of his own passengers who remain paralyzed.

That's pretty sad. Hopefully the parents will lose every dollar they have after those families get done sueing them.

This is what happens when we let idiotic judges sit in courts buying all this psycho-babble nonesense instead of just punishing the criminal.

Texas and money.....win.

Oh, do they still let drivers drink and drive like they used to when I was there in the late 70s?

Do the poor ever think about consequences? No. They have a worse expectation of consequences than the rich do.

The boy should have been punished far more harshly if only to make an example of him to other teen drunk drivers.

That's not what happened. The judge took a bribe. They all do.

You act like it's a surprise the rich get special privileges in this country. Hello!, they run our country. Why do you think the minimum wage has lost so much spending power during the same time that income for the top 1% has gone up more than 200%??? As far as they're concerned, the law is for us peasants, not for them. They even make up new laws to punish the peasants while rewarding the rich. Don't you think it's strange that the top income tax rate is 35% and it applies to the middle class (and I'm not even talking upper middle class here) as well as those making $billions? Why do you think OJ got away with murder? It sure as heck wasn't because he was black.

In Texas, the only thing that will excuse illegal behavior faster than money is if you are an outstanding football prospect.

If he had used a gun the Left would be demanding gun bans and new laws along with life in prison.

Yet here.... Nearly silence and barely any news coverage.

Doesn't Texas execute minors? Not if they are rich or football players, of course.

OJ was found not guilty because the police were caught planting evidence and perjuring themselves. I'd have said NG too.

On the bright side, dad had let the boy drive a company vehicle, hence dad's company is also liable in the civil suits.

I hope he AND the mother get sued exponentially, lose ALL of their holdings, go on welfare, need food stamps, need a place to stay, get banished from their community, live in fear of further reprisals for the rest of their lives!

...and that's just for starters!

So since he was never taught that bad actions = punishment, they give him probation for drunk driving and killing four fucking people.

HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?

That's just the cover story. The judge took a bribe, but they couldn't admit that.
