Dual purpose bikes

If you want a dual purpose that you can ride on the street and off road in dirt bike country would you buy the Honda Afrika twin or the Kawasaki KLR650?

Depends on money. The Afrika costs more for a reason. Way better off road and on road.

Depending on how much you want to spend you could go European. BMW 1250 or triumph tiger 1200.

Personally I'd stick with the Jap bikes.
They're way more reliable.

There are several "adventure" bikes on the market now, and if you are on a budget, the Suzuki V-Strom, properly equipped for $4,000 or less.

Two things predominate: Price and comfort. Those bikes sit high off the ground and they all have unique riding positions. You gotta ride them to decide.

Although there's a good chance you couldnt do you know the proper way to pick up a motorcycle?
