Draft Of Trump ‘Religious Freedom’ Executive Order Signals Major Win For Conservative Christians

YOU decided to declare war on Christians, and NOW comes the counter-offensive. Enjoy.

Do you care to site where the battle started on this war on Christians. (like the Bill O'Reilly show)--LOL No one has ever been forced to service gay weddings, nor has any business been forced to deliver services to anyone they didn't want too.

A gay couple asks for pizza and a wedding cake--and FOX NEWS flips out over it. That's your war--LOL

What does religious freedom have to do wh gay rights ?

These so called "Christians" are a bunch of fakes trying to use religion as a shield for their hate filled bigotry.

The proposed order would weaken LGBTQ anti-discrimination protections and curb access to contraception coverage.

President Donald Trump may soon hand a major victory to conservative Christians with a “religious freedom” executive order that would cripple anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people, among others.

A draft of an executive order says the government will not force individuals or organizations to engage in activities that may “violate their conscience.” The Huffington Post obtained the draft, titled, “Establishing a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom,” from two sources.

If signed, the order would appear to allow employers to deny employee health coverage for contraception and abortion. It also would permit federally funded adoption and family services organizations to discriminate against same-sex couples.

Further, it would protect the tax-exempt status of any religious organization or privately held company that “believes, speaks, or acts (or declines to act) in accordance with the belief that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman, sexual relations are properly reserved for such a marriage, male and female and their equivalents refer to an individual’s immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy, physiology, or genetics at or before birth, and that human life begins at conception and merits protection at all stages of life.”

The order, first reported by The Nation and Reveal, isn’t final, and appears to be among hundreds of draft executive orders being circulated that won’t necessarily become policy, ABC News reported. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a White House spokeswoman, told ABC: “We do not have plans to sign anything at this time but will let you know when we have any updates.”

The draft order defines religious freedom in broad terms, but specifically refers to organizations’ right to claim religious objections to same-sex marriage, abortion, transgender rights, contraception and premarital sex. It would require the Department of Justice to defend such “religious freedom.”

The leak of the order comes a day after Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch to fill a Supreme Court vacancy. Gorsuch sided with Christian-owned retailer Hobby Lobby in a controversial Supreme Court religious freedom case in 2013.

A pro-Christian order would stand in stark contrast to an executive order Trump signed last week to deny visas for individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries. Noah Feldman, a professor of constitutional and international law at Harvard University, said Trump’s ban “violates the constitutional value of equal religious liberty.”

I don't believe there is such a thing as abortion coverage, is that a new one?--LOL Insurance companies don't have to pay for abortions? Is that really in there--LOL

Your religious FREEDOMS are being violated through pizza and wedding cakes---waaaaa, waaaa, waaa, waaa. Something no one FORCED you to provide for anyway.

No one is talking about removing access to birth control. That's just regressive fear mongering.

Hobby Lobby went to the Supreme Court over it, trying to deny coverage for birth control pills--(which are mandated to be covered in most policies because it is a prescription drug.) The court said no to them, BUT they let them intervene into a woman's doctor/patient relationship on the type of contraceptive devices they can use.

You're not going to have your cake and eat it too. If you're outraged over abortions, the dumbest thing you can do is say ( "I refuse to pay for birth control contraceptives--because of my religious beliefs.)

If they can get away with this, then someday, someone is going to say "I refuse to pay for cancer treatments--because this is God's will and it's against my religious beliefs."

Yeah, I don't think Jesus Christ would have reacted this way toward people that were different.

I'm sorry you're so illiterate that you don't know the difference between "insurance coverage" and "access". Even Hobby Lobby provides regular contraceptives and alway has. Their objection was for products that cause abortion like the morning after pill which was mandated in the ACA.

More scary religious legislation. I want more freedom FROM religion.

Oh, let me guess is this rumor just like the LGBTQ workplace protections executive order of Obama's he was going to allegedly repeal, but actually said he was keeping in place?

Let's scream about abortion and then cut off access to birth control contraceptives--LOL

The hypocrisy of the Evangelical religious Reich wing can be astounding at ALL times.

I don't believe there is such a thing as abortion coverage, is that a new one?--LOL Insurance companies don't have to pay for abortions? Is that really in there--LOL

I'm wondering when he'll sign an executive order on a dunking device for all the witches they plan to find.

Your religious FREEDOMS are being violated through pizza and wedding cakes---waaaaa, waaaa, waaa, waaa. Something no one FORCED you to provide for anyway.

No one is talking about removing access to birth control. That's just regressive fear mongering.

I sure haven't heard of any cough-cough Christians refusing to pay for male enhancement drugs like Viagra, have you?

You do realize that MOST ACA plans don't pay for it don't you? They will pay for Testosterone replacement but not Viagra or Cialis.

Viagra is used for testosterone replacement also, just like birth control pills are prescribed for estrogen replacement.

Why aren't they complaining and refusing that?

Wrong again skippy, Viagra has nothing to do with testosterone, it dilates blood vessels.

To my knowledge they don't cause abortions, do they.

Do you actually believe that birth control pills cause abortions?--LOL

Damn you're too stupid to breathe, go back and read post #28.

I'm pretty sure this is a 'business rights' move rather than a 'I hate fags' move.

[aka part of undoing the stranglehold of restrictions on businesses]

No...it seems to be just another "I hate fags" legal maneuver

I'm sorry you're so illiterate that you don't know the difference between "insurance coverage" and "access". Even Hobby Lobby provides regular contraceptives and alway has. Their objection was for products that cause abortion like the morning after pill which was mandated in the ACA.

The morning after pill is just a double dose of a birth control pill dumbass. It's usually given to women who are in an emergency room that have just been brutally assaulted and raped.

Birth control pills have to be done by prescription. There's a reason for that, the wrong type of pill is going to create some bad side effects.
