Dove Soap hates black people

You're obviously free to think that, but I think your doing so is little but wishful thinking.

Well, whether that's what Unilever was trying to communicate is part of the question at hand. Ostensibly, or maybe not, Unilever doesn't think that, for were that the true message they were conveying, there'd be nothing to apologize for, and yet they have apologized. After all, there's no point in apologizing for wholesome, equitable, and sincere thoughts and notions.

You see, when one's intentions are well meaning and non-derogatory, one doesn't apologize and express regret; one explains, corroborates and clarifies. Apologies are issued by guilty conscience holders who knew they were "doing wrong" from square one.

Aside:
Of course, the world in which we find ourselves is exactly that, course. Its populated and run by too many ill bred troglodytes who were raised by ill mannered troglodytes. How else does one explain so many people not realizing the apologies and forgiveness are for oneself, not for others.

For instance, after Trump's Access Hollywood remarks became public he apologized for them. Do you think he'd "lost any sleep" over them prior to their becoming public? I sure don't. On the contrary, I suspect he thought himself quite apropos, cool even, when he made them. Moreover, the mindset from which those words emanated didn't go anywhere or fall into a deep chasm never again to be heard from.

Hell, had Trump truly to have any integrity, he wouldn't have apologized, for those remarks were some years and years prior to the campaign. Were he truly rueful for that sort of misogynistic mentality, he had plenty of time to, by his actions, show as much, and we all know that is not at all how he behaved after that event.

So wait, you actually think they did this fully well knowing or intending to anger black people?
No, I don't think they did it to anger black people. I think they knew or suspected that would happen, but I don't think that was their explicit objective.

Their mistake was, they should have known how fragile black people in this country are, and that there would be hell to pay regardless of the intent.
Yeah, blame it on black people who get shot in the back by cops, blame it on black people who are constantly being denegraded by corporate white america...yeah, its our fault some white guy killed 58 white people just because......thanks Obama

It's always the black guys fault. ..

Wow, really?

The ad seems racist as presented by the OP. But when I actually watched it myself I see no racism with it all. The white girl takes off her shirt and it's a darker girl there. You have issues if you watched this ad and found a problem with it. This is the problem with out society.
Bottom line we are all living in Trump country...if you don't like the reactions his peeps are giving to blacks, than damit get his white racist ass out the white house.....

Holy shit, whose bright idea was THIS one?

Did you see the entire commercial Mac?

I could have seen that a hundred times without sensing the horror, but so many are so hilariously hyper-sensitive nowadays.

All commercials should be run through a Federal PC Commission (FPCC) for approval, just in case.
.

I agree, and that's what really is amazing about this story. The company should have known in America 2017, that the black community would have seen something completely different than their intent, and that there would be outrage.
Maybe the lesson here is simply to exclude a person of color altogether from their advertising.

Lets get something clear, I am sick and tired of white people constantly making issues of concern about blacks, their mission in life to interfere and deflect. Until you walk the walk, talk the talk in our shoes, nothing you have to say matters to us....like get over yourselves.....your not the only people in this country who buys shit. Dove can take their white soap and shove it up their ass for all I care. I don't buy the shit any ways....can't make bubble with face cream soap.

It's easy for me to see the matter as a case of PC-on-steroids, but I'm also not a man who's awakened every day of his life knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that his forebears skin color is why they never realized their full potential, or that his kids may be denied something they've earned because they are black, or the cab driver won't stop, or whatever other things that blacks and other minorities endure often not so much because they are black or brown or red or yellow, but because they are not white.

And it's easy for me to think it's PC-on-steroids when I haven't had to learn the hard truth that among the segment of the population people who are the vast majority of people in the country, some people would as soon see me dead or shackled as succeeding along with everyone else and there are some in the majority who don't at all feel that way, and I have no way near as readily available and accurate for recognizing people in the former cohort as they have of identifying me. And I'm not the one who has first hand awareness of from whence this country has come since just the 1960s, let alone the first half of the 20th century and before, and who sees racial hatred on the rise, what with skinheads, neo-Nazis, and cries with renewed vigor of "the South will rise again."

I can say that blacks are hypersensitive when they see bias in ads like the Dove one, but I'm not the brown-skinned person who was made to feel even more inferior even than my lighter skinned racial peers whose skin made them closer to white. I'm not the black child who thinks the light colored doll is better than the brown one, a doll to which it's identical in every other way, merely because it's light colored. I'm not the one who has to overcome being told by an entire culture that I'm somehow lesser. And I'm not the one who, having more direct experience with racially-motivated bias, discrimination hatred and violence directed toward me and others who look like me than do any members of the majority race, upon making an attestation about what is indeed racist or racially denigrating, is told I am wrong and that I don't know what I'm talking about.

Nope. I'm none of those people. I have none those concerns and fears for myself or my kids. Quite contrary. Were I to express outrage over my or my kids having been denied anything on the basis of our whiteness, millions of people would have a hissy fit over it. If I wanted to, I could make it national news. People would immediately accept as so what I say about such a happenstance. They wouldn't deny it or say I'm making too much of it. And since that is the person who I am, and since that is part of the experience I enjoy, the least I can do is be decent and respectful enough to acknowledge it and acknowledge that which is not my experience is surely better explained and identified by those for whom that has been and remains their experience, and thereby give them more credit than merely that of being overly sensitive...Because what's hypersensitive about being society's butt, knowing it, not liking it and wanting not to be so, and wanting and acting to see that circumstance ended?

1) GFY

2) At least when white people go to buy soap and shampoo, it's not out of reach behind a counter because certain people would steal it if it wasn't. ;)

I agree and the go along to get along way of resolving conflict is becoming more common than fleas on a dog and it's more harmful to a nation than one might think.
Look at what you see in the entertainment business for example. An actor, singer or whoever says anything the loony left doesn't like and it's Katie bar the door because they will come and pigpile you without mercy till you cry uncle.

When the majority finally gasps and say they have had enough of all this shit and sits it all out what you are left with is the screamy sniveling of the minority. And a united country with rights for all, such as freedom of speech is the last thing these hate groups like BLM and antifa want. There is power in causing the opposition to acquiesce to your demands and power and control is a large part of what they are after.

15th post
I'm oft amazed at how easily some folks are "outraged" (which is actually more like "bitchy" than anything else - another word the left has destroyed the meaning of) by innocent shit. I think the left has a catastrophic failure in teaching self-confidence and resilience. At some point parents on the left, and those who cater to their ridiculous pity seeking whims, have to realize that they are only harming their kids, friends, and themselves by being over-sensitive about everything under the sun. It just makes life harder for them and builds a massive roadblock to being happy and successful in life.

You ain't ever ripped jack shit. I'm better at it on my worst day than you are on your best you crazy racist ****.

Good for Dove, I'm going to start buying it from now on. Because I admit I DETEST that walking-felony-wave, white-hating, evil, stupid race of violent grievance-mongerers as much as these savages detest white males. I'm very fair that way. Due to the black violence epidemic, I fully support re-segregation for the safety of the 87% of America that isn't black.

it's just a stupid commercial
