Doubling State’s 1,100 Wind Turbines Won’t Replace This One Coal/Gas Plant ( Michigan)

Nothing like driving rates thru the roof in the name of your green god

The left NEVER consider that their 'green' higher energy costs hurt the poor and middle class. That is the pattern with assholes on the left, they don't care what must be sacrificed on the alter of liberalism.

Now why don't the left take the billions of dollars the piss away on stupid shit like California high speed rail and invest that into alternative energy hmmm. These liberal assholes talk out both sides of their mouths.

But lets try to spin Intermittent power as wonderful...

They (the US Dept of Energy) have a plan for that. It’s called SMARTGrid. Very scary proposition too, if you ask me.

Yes....they just stop giving you power if they need it somewhere else......works great in extreme heat or cold....except for those who need cooling or heat ...... they wind up dead...but the left sees that as a feature, not a flaw, since dead people use even less resources.

Coal will be around for awhile. You can’t run baseload capacity on renewables. But demand for coal will continue to fall.

The jury is still out...

https://skepticalscience.com/print.php?r=374

You flat out can’t do it right now and supply the energy needs of the country. You may in the future if we develop the technology. But that’s a long way out.
We could do it now...if we had to or wanted to.

Exactly, if you could only fill mass graves with the right people, then all of your dreams of medieval energy technology would become reality....

This is just an outright denial of science and reality...…..

America has slightly over 400 coal plants. That means it would take about 800,000 wind turbines to replace all of our coal fire power plants. Just imagine how many birds they would slaughter every year. And they still require 100% backup!

Doubling State’s 1,100 Wind Turbines Won’t Replace This One Coal/Gas Plant

Michigan’s electric utilities gamble that the reliability of service won’t collapse.

Consumers Energy would have to double the number of wind turbines currently operating in this state to replace the electricity produced by just one of the coal- and gas-fired power plants it intends to close as part of its plans to rely more on renewable sources. The problem, however, is that those additional turbines only spin about one-third of the time, leaving a big energy gap for the households and businesses that rely on the company for their electricity.

..

regulated utilities and their vendors operate 1,107 industrial wind turbines in Michigan. These can produce 1,925.3 megawatts of electricity, but only when the wind is blowing.

Sorry, but you can't spin getting rid of coal plants as a bad thing. It's not.

'Coal is on the way out': study finds fossil fuel now pricier than solar or wind

LOL.....that link has been posted a billion times in here. Its fake. Fails to factor in many related costs such as the building of transmission lines which is astronomical. Which of course is why most countries, like China for example are building coal plants at a rate of 2-3 per month for the next ten years! TEN YEARS!! Because it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper.

Coal might be on the way out...…..but it will be out many years after every person posting on this message board is in their box for a long, long time!!!:113::113:

False. China are investing billions in reusable energy more than any other countries or combined because they are dying with their own dirty air.

China Is Set To Become The World's Renewable Energy Superpower, According To New Report

China Aims to Spend at Least $360 Billion on Renewable Energy by 2020

China intends to spend more than $360 billion through 2020 on renewable power sources like solar and wind, the government’s energy agency said on Thursday.

The country’s National Energy Administration laid out a plan to dominate one of the world’s fastest-growing industries, just at a time when the United States is set to take the opposite tack as Donald J. Trump, a climate-change doubter, prepares to assume the presidency.

The agency said in a statement that China would create more than 13 million jobs in the renewable energy sector by 2020, curb the growth of greenhouse gasses that contribute to global warming and reduce the amount of soot that in recent days has blanketed Beijing and other Chinese cities in a noxious cloud of smog.

America has coal plants. America has natural gas plants. America has oil fired plants. America has nuclear plants.

With all those ways of driving steam turbines, why do you think the only alternative is wind turbines? Couldn't wind be included in electrical generation the way coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear are?

Replacing them with wind turbines would be a disaster.

The AGW cult believes that only solar and wind are viable alternatives.

Dude this is not about left or the right. It’s the reality in life.

Coal is dying either you or I like it or not. Natural gas are easier, cheaper to extract and produce. Natural gas is produced in 32 states but mostly coming from Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Louisiana.

Ontario got rid of all of its coal fired plants and replaced them with wind mills. We have so much power from them, we're selling it to Americans. Here's a clue - the wind is always blowing - always. We have thousands of windmills in our country. Even on hot muggy days when there's barely a breeze, the windmills are turning. Ironically, when it's really windy, they shut them down, for safety reasons.

You conservative idiots are clinging to outmoded systems and models. It will destroy your country. You're being left behind.
Mostof Ontario's power comes from hydroelectric. You are simply lying about how much comes from wind.

Every two thousand windmills is the equivalent of one coal fired power plant.

The whole AGW scam is purely political.

Looks like Democrats won the war against coal. I wonder if Hillary does a victory dance when a coal plant shuts down.

No, I'm not. I never claimed that all of our power comes from wind or even most of it. You claim wind is unreliable and cannot be counted on. That's a lie.

You don’t know what you are talking about. Let me guess. You are a Trump supporter.

1. High speed rail is an investment for people like me that travels to Las Vegas then back to Ca the same day.

2. Left has nothing to do with the dying energy like coal.

3. Like 20 years from now with all the car manufacturers are switching to electric vehicles. What do you think will happen to gasoline?

California is investing billions in clean energy away from coal.

Renewable Energy

California is leading the nation toward a 100 percent clean energy future and addressing climate change. The California Energy Commission plays a pivotal role by developing and mandating programs that use renewable energy, incentives for energy technology installation, renewable energy grants, and by ensuring the efforts benefit all Californians.

It's absolutely true. At times, wind power in Germany has amounted to as little 6% of its rated output.

If the riders on high speed rail had to pay the full cost of their tickets to Vegas, the price would be $1000

Not exactly. Trumpy promised to the coal miners that he will bring back the coal industry..... but he lied just to get the votes.

Trump didn't lie. He just isn't able to deliver on his promise. Coal will struggle so long as the price of natural gas is so low. However, there's a big difference between that and actively trying to kill it as the Obama administration did.
