Doge reduced warning and response time for the Texas flood.

People are gonna die, we said, and not quietly either.

Once again fatalities from extreme weather events can be directly traced back to lack of adequate warning.

Which is, of course, a direct result of the staffing cuts at NOAA and NWS.

Now, after severe flooding in non-evacuated areas in Texas has left at least 24 dead with dozens more missing, including several young girls at a summer camp, Texas officials are blaming their failure to act on a faulty forecast by Donald Trump’s new National Weather Service gutted by cuts to their operating budget and most experienced personnel...

Now lets see if the severely slashed and much maligned FEMA is up to the task of recovery.

Personally I doubt it.

So NOAA and the NWS were using the probationary hires do their forecasting and issue flood warnings? Who knew!

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is planning to cut approximately 17% of its workforce next year, after recently firing hundreds of probationary employees.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the poor people of Texas

I hope their state can rescue them

That is what they voted for

Unfortunately, flash flooding occurs in every part of the U.S. We saw that in the Mountains of Tennessee, North and South Carolina last year and now in Texas.
It goes along with Tornados and earth quakes.
A.I. say's:
Flash floods in the U.S. typically peak during late spring and summer, with about 75% of reports occurring from late April to mid-September due to factors like warm, humid air and slower-moving thunderstorms. These conditions increase the likelihood of heavy rainfall over small areas, leading to rapid flooding.
It's all part of Mother Nature showing us who really is the boss.

Texas is widely know for flooding. Texans know the drill.

Many there are not Texans but transplants

LOL!!!

The Democrat Party exists to steal from the American taxpayer.

If you attempt to cut out what they steal, they will do this on every issue, as if somehow cutting off trans credit cards used to party and attend UFC fight events did something bad...
Yet the Dems are not in power, duh.

I actually read some glassdoor reviews about working at that camp. Very few "cons" most people loved working there, but one of the complaints was that this place was in the middle of nowhere with little to no available cell service. It might not have mattered if the kids had been allowed to have cell phones if they would have all just been battery powered bricks out there in the boonies.

Trump made sure there is no FEMA anymore.
BS......phase out after hurricane season. States are better equipped to respond...... with fed cash assistance.

Yet the Dems are not in power, duh.
OMG....... Obama could have calmed the waters...... good point.

I know the hill country well, particularly Comfort and Kerrville, and Boerne to a certain extent.

That the girls and their adults at camp may not have had cell phone is quite possible. The boys' camp was much easier to evacuate on short notice, I have been told by people who live in Kerrvville.

More than 20 firls are still missing.

Thank God Texas has Gov Abbott to take care of them

Who needs FEMA anyway?
They were lazy and worthless.
Texas is better off without them

Flash floods on that part of the Guadalupe Are nor random or rare. That same situation with sudden water rise of 20 ft or more in just a few minutes has happened several times before, and it will happen again.
