Does anyone here have a fear of posting under surveillance?

Absolutely. I don't have any fear of being personally targeted - but we should all fear the surveillance state. And it's coming.

I am reading more and more these days about media posts that result in police knocking on the door.

I have to tell you..it has more or less shut me down for regular participation.

I wouldn't purposely post something that is illegal...but then again who knows what that is anymore?

It appears that someone is always watching these days...and the right and wrong of it changes with whoever happens to be in charge.

I can´t even take a dump without them.

They besiege my conservative door but they don´t dare to come inside, fearing all the cp stored on the computer I am posting from will trigger their minds.

President Cheney built a bank of supercomputers that tracks most of what goes on. The problem is accessing it, Republicans ain't deep thinkers...

The Constitution should have shut it down, the problem was the number of crazies was growing. So we let it be.

Oh gee weren't you screaming lock the Jan 6 protesters back up
Like some of us that haven't been complaining about the united states government spying on its citizens for decades

You have a PhD in what social justice for penguins

Don't say we didn't warn you about the patriot act either

I would say that I am somewhat concerned about posting. I do my best to make sure I don't come off as an "extremist", which I certainly reject that label. What I post here is fairly mainstream and within the realm of acceptable political discourse so I don't think that it would be of high priority to anyone. There are far worse communities with far more dangerous people out there than whoever is posting on this particular board.

However anything could change, I am concerned about a surveillance state being established at some point in the future that then could look back at what everyone is saying online to go after them, however I stand by what I believe in. The United States is the land of the free, and as Americans, we have the right to freedom of speech.

A good rule of thumb these days is don't post anything on the www that you wouldn't be perfectly comfortable repeating in a courtroom.

It really is that simple.

At the end of the day, there really is no such thing as online anonymity, even if you think that there is. There isn't.

And both so-called ''sides'' of the political spectrum will call men with guns from the government to come kicking your door down if they don't like what you say or how you act.

Heck, I've seen both so-called ''sides'' on here threaten to report each other to authorities for things they say on here. There's not a nickel's worth of difference between the big government types so long as it's their guy doing it to the other guy. And it's clear that they do it to each other in an effort just to try to scare and intimidate each other into shutting up and not saying things that the other doesn't want to read or hear. There's never been any legitimate basis for the Mickey Mousery so far as I know, aside from the time we had that admitted pedo around here years ago.

But you learn a lot about the nature of Individuals and groups of Individuals just by observing how they operate.

Speaking only for myself, I'm gonna say what I'm gonna say, within the boundaries of the Law and the rulebook here, but other than that I don't particularly care who likes it and who doesn't. Pft...

Don't make threats you are okay.
If only that were true.

The problem with that, at least that I've often seen on here, is that some people (usually the same few folks) are as arbitrary in claiming someone is making threats against them when their feelings get hurt or when someone turns the tables on their gambit as they are about calling people antisemites just because someone disagrees with them on political/geo-political matters. These are generally your loudmouthed weaklings who sit on here all day long, every day, and want to dish it out but can't take it.

As I said, you learn a lot about Individuals and groups of Individuals just by observing how they operate.

That is a very radical, extremist thing to say.

Must be why I put you on Iggy long ago.
