Wherever the wild things are!!
I don't usually post in this section of the forum, but this is horrible news. There was a pediatric wing in this hospital, and babies and children there. Hospitals should not be targeted and should be "neutral" zones.

At least 27 killed in airstrike on Syria hospital

"We condemn the destruction of the Al Quds hospital in #Aleppo, depriving people of essential healthcare. Hospitals are #notatarget, #Syria," Doctors Without Borders, also known by its French name MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières), tweeted.

It said the hospital was the main referral center for pediatrics and had an ER, an Out Patient Department, an intensive care unit and an operating theater, all of which were destroyed.

Robert Mardini, director for the Middle East at the International Committee of the Red Cross, said that organization also supported the hospital and condemned the attack.

This is "CIVIL WAR", in its wildest form.
What do people expect?

There will be more hospitals, schools, bazaars, parks,.... hit before this is over.

In fact; a whole population needs to be wiped out, before this is over.......

An MSF representative, Aitor Zabalgogeazkoa, told the BBC that the paediatrician who died was Mohammed Wasim Moaz, who had worked at the hospital since 2013.

Mr Zabalgogeazkoa said: "He kept it going, was always there and always worried about the needs of the people. He was honest and very committed. He worked in conditions you cannot even begin to imagine."

Rami Abdurahman, head of the monitoring group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told the BBC that Dr Moaz, 36, was the last paediatrician in the rebel-held part of Aleppo and another was to be sent on Thursday to take his place.

The Observatory said rebel rocket fire on government-held areas on Thursday had killed 14 civilians while attacks by pro-government forces on rebel neighbourhoods had killed at least 20 people.

Airstrike on MSF-backed Aleppo hospital kills patients and doctors
Friday 29th April, 2016

Thursday 28 April 2016 - One of last paediatricians in rebel-held area of Syrian city among the dead, as UN envoy says ceasefire is now ‘barely alive’
A Syrian hospital backed by Médecins Sans Frontières and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been destroyed in an airstrike in Aleppo, killing patients and doctors including one of the last paediatricians remaining in the rebel-held part of the city. MSF said the al-Quds hospital was targeted in an airstrike on Wednesday that killed 14 patients and staff members including at least two doctors, with the toll expected to rise.

The latest attack is part of a broader pattern of systematic targeting of hospitals by the government of Bashar al-Assad, as the humanitarian situation in the divided commercial capital of Syria grows more desperate under intense combat. “MSF categorically condemns this outrageous targeting of yet another medical facility in Syria,” said Muskilda Zancada, MSF’s head of mission in Syria. “This devastating attack has destroyed a vital hospital in Aleppo, and the main referral centre for paediatric care in the area. Where is the outrage among those with the power and obligation to stop this carnage?”

Marianne Gasser, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross’s Syria mission, said in a statement: “The recent attack on the ICRC-supported Quds hospital is unacceptable and sadly this is not the first time the lifesaving medical services have been hit. “We urge all the parties to spare the civilians. Don’t attack hospitals, don’t use weapons that cause widespread damage. Otherwise, Aleppo will be pushed further to the brink of humanitarian disaster.”

Neither the ICRC nor MSF assigned blame for the attack, but the Syrian and Russian air forces have carried out almost all the aerial strikes on the opposition-controlled east of the city. The ICRC said the intense battles raging in Aleppo could put millions at grave risk of a humanitarian catastrophe. Fresh airstrikes on Thursday on the rebel-held part of the city killed 20 people and brought down at least one residential building, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. The UK-based monitor said shelling by insurgents on government-held areas killed at least 14.

So sad, isn't it, Walt, when hospitals can't be considered off limits to any of the combatants in this war. Here are some more pictures such as a baby being pulled from the rubble

I thought this was interesting in Chris' article.......

Greg Archetto, a former Defense Department official who worked with members of the Syrian armed opposition in Jordan, said the Russians and Syrians are fighting to win the war in Syria, and have little regard for how it looks to outsiders.

"The Russians don't care about international public opinion and neither does Assad,” Archetto said. "Destroying the enemy is the goal and they are doing that from their perspective. Whether or not it is morally right is inconsequential. They have their strategic objectives and they are achieving them."

Chris Harmer, a Syria analyst at the Institute for the Study of War in Washington, said it’s unclear if the hospital was deliberately targeted, but the airstrike "is consistent with the Assad regime strategy of killing or depopulating any civilian population opposed to his rule.”

And John Kerry in another article stated.

"We are outraged by yesterday's airstrikes in Aleppo on the al Quds hospital supported by both Doctors Without Borders and the International Committee of the Red Cross, which killed dozens of people, including children, patients and medical personnel," he said in a statement.

"It appears to have been a deliberate strike on a known medical facility and follows the Assad regime's appalling record of striking such facilities and first responders,” he continued. “These strikes have killed hundreds of innocent Syrians."

The problem is, no one will be held responsible after the usual internal investigation, it won't be considered a war crime and at most there might be some disciplinary action, if that.

"On Friday, the general in charge of US forces in the Mideast and South Asia, Joseph Votel, said the strike was “not a war crime”, since a US AC-130 gunship crew did not realize it was striking a hospital. Votel’s predecessor took disciplinary action against a dozen service members, though no criminal liability will follow."

Kunduz hospital attack: MSF's questions remain as US military seeks no charges

I always thought hospitals and such places were safe places, especially when they contain innocent children, doctors and nurses. Sad. I guess that's "war" though.

Kunduz hospital attack: MSF's questions remain as US military seeks no charges

It's not the first time that the terrorist regime target hospitals of MSF, they confirmed the crime in other airstrikes.

MSF says Russia, Syria 'deliberately bombed' hospital
http://english.alarabiya.net/en/New...an-regime-deliberately-bombed-a-hospital.html

As I said before, MSF said the same thing about the U.S. bombing of their hospital in Afghanistan. It's very hard to prove that the bombing of a hospital is deliberate. The pilots always claim they mistook a building for another.

And that is not impossible and totally plausible. I find it hard to believe that forces would waste their ammunition and money to intentionally bomb innocent people.

All doctors there said that the regime airstrike the hospitals.
Opposition don't have ammunition nor quality weapons to destroy a hospital or building.

I didn't say they didn't "do it." I said I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they did it on purpose.
