And you shouldn't trust them.
As I said the police are legally allowed to lie to you about anything they want and they are trained to lie to you.

A reasonable person must then assume that everything that any police officer says is a lie.
I think you might’ve misunderstood me as well, brother. I have relatives who are cops most people do.

A doctor can lie to you. Most cops are honest people. And I disagree with your approach to this. You’re missing a whole bunch of key points. You’re missing huge chunks of the conversation here. Anyone can lie to you. Anyone can steal from you your mailman can steal from you, your gas station attendant can rob you. You can get robbed by a business.

No need to reiterate myself anymore.

That's why you don't trust people you do not know.

If a Dr lies to you you can get a second opinion and sue for malpractice.

Cops lie to you and you have no recourse. Cops actively lie to people as part of their job.

And what century are you living in where gas station attendants still pump gas?

If you don't trust police who ya gonna call when you hear that bump in the night?

You say a cop can lie to you. I disagreed with your approach. I think you’re talking about undercover narcotics agents. That is a conversation to be had about honesty and doing things like undercover in formats. That’s a different conversation

So, when you say a cop can legally lie to you Ii dis agree with your approach I don’t think you’re right about that and I think beyond that you’re missing huge part of this conversation. What you’re saying about cops applies to everyone.

Bottom line is don’t be a criminal. People think that they can sell crack cocaine to undercover cops, and get away with it. No way that’s evil it’s evil it’s the wrong thing to do to sell crack cocaine.

But I won’t need to reiterate myself. I think you’re missing huge portions of the conversation here.

Any cop can lie to you at any time

How many people have been pulled out of their cars because a cop "smells an odor"?
How many people have had their 4th amendment rights violated because an officer said a drug dog alerted when it really didn't?

During a criminal investigation, you have certain basic rights. There are also best practices that law enforcement officers should follow to ensure that they don’t violate the rights of an individual suspected of a crime. Unfortunately, current best practices for law enforcement officers often include intentionally lying to or misleading the subject of an investigation in order to access information and evidence.

Do you trust your mailman, do you trust your doctor? Do you trust your local gas station attendant .. do you trust the police ? because it’s all effectively the same question.

We’re all humans. The question in the op can also be It …do you trust your neighbor , your family member and the person down the street? . Because those people are police officers.

To me The answer to the question based on common sense would be yes.

There may be those who are misguided who might say ā€œwell if I was Black and this or thatā€

Most of those are white people saying that it’s not Black people. And they’ve only been able to convince tiny percentages of the American population to agree to not trust the police. These are liberal millionaire white people saying this in front of a camera to get votes to get votes from poor people and working class people. It’s no different than saying ā€œwell if I was white and I got robbed or beat up by a black person, then I might not trust Black peopleā€ or ā€œif I was Black, and got beat up by a white, I wouldn’t trust white peopleā€ or ā€œwell if I was black, I might not trust the police because of white police officer attacked me. Of course there’s also white people who get attacked by black police officers so the same ideology applies across the board. There’s no way around these common sense arguments.

I’ve always found it to be fascinating to see How people attempt to argue against common sense. And this argument all comes down to them, saying ā€œwell if I was Blackā€ or

ā€œ you don’t know what it’s like to be black.ā€

But it never works. because Well many don’t know what it’s like to have cancer. Many don’t know what it’s like to be stuck in a wheelchair for life. Every thing that the weak man and the anti-American man says can be defeated by logic, love, beauty, Christianity, and common sense. When I say the anti-American man and those who project weakness, I’m talking about the multi millionaire and billionaire elite white people who are neoconservatives and the far left wingers that are attempting to criticize the police.
No I don't trust them. They aren't there to help people they are there to feed the criminal justice system and bring in revenue for the politicians they protect and serve.

You’re missing huge chunks of the conversation here. There’s a misunderstanding on your part anyone can lie to you. Your dentist can lie to you. Here’s the bottom line don’t be a criminal don’t sell drugs to people.

If you keep using the same line, ā€œcops can lie to youā€. It’s really getting old man. You discount everything else that has been sat here and you’re wrong. Cops don’t lie to people they can’t lie to people. You’re talking about undercover stings, informants and tactics place used to get information from criminals.

People act like America is a Third World country.

The police are not a part of the problem. They are the solution. Cops are not politicians.

I get where you’re coming from but we have bad people in America. Criminal drug dealers. And the cops have to use tactics to fight this. So people to not smoke marijuana in their car, they should have the registration and inspection up-to-date. Simple stuff follow the rules and there’s no problems.

Sure some cops lie to people, but there’s liars in every category of the American workforce.

And the American police forces are some of the best in the world other countries police forces take bribes and our involved in the drug trade. So it’s not even close the United States has the best police force in the world.

I get where some people are coming from. There was this guy who is a former cop and he has videos on YouTube showing people how to hide marijuana from cops. He says don’t roll down your windows when you talk to a cop. I disagree with that approach. I don’t think that that’s the way Forward ….I I thought that way when I was 17 or 19 years old but I’ve changed since then.

It’s a dangerous thing that we have multi millionaires in the media telling people to be afraid of cops. That is not a good healthy society. A much healthier society is one where I like to be around cops. Like when I see a police car I don’t feel any fear. It’s just another car. I’m a law abiding Citizen.

Now the politicians they are the problem for legalizing marijuana. And there handcuffing police who don’t want this to be the case.

There’s a lotta good cops out there who disagreed with the bad laws we have.

I learned early in my adult life, NEVER TRUST ANYBODY!!

People LIE, CHEAT, and STEAL (or worse) to get what THEY want, and don't give a rats ass about anybody else.

On the whole, I hate and despise people in general.

If I have to deal with people, I take them on an individual basis........and see what kind of person they truly are, before I waste time allowing them in my life, or ignoring them.

So far, I've let very few people into my life. And the ones that have been allowed in, are people who love to help others, always try hard to do the right thing, and are there if you ever need them for any reason. There's hardly any people left like this anymore.
I think it’s a generalj thing, though that we do trust each other here in the United States of America. Maybe it’s not what you’re thinking it is but it’s a general trust. For example, when you go to the gas station, you trust the gas you put in your car is not going to blow your car up. All of us when we go to the gas station we we trust as we trust a person doing the oil change is not going to put something into the car to blow it up or something

Take it from me brother I was in a wheelchair for a year unable to have sexual functions for over a year, couldn’t even piss on my own. I have all the reason to hate the world, but I don’t. There’s good in this world all over the place.

Why should anyone trust the police?

The police are legally allowed to lie to you about everything.

Knowing this a reasonable person has to assume that everything the police say is a lie.

Recently there has been brought to light the fact that cops misuse drug dogs in order to violate the 4th amendment rights of innocent people.

The cops do not care about you , they are not your friend or ally.

They are the personal Goon Squad for the Cities politicians.

My dentist is not an agent of the government that can literally ruin my life.

Cops have been using drug dogs to make false alerts all to deny people their 4th amendment rights
Cops make up shit to pull people over all the time

Cops cannot and should not be trusted.

And you don't have to be a criminal for the cops to arrest you.

I'm not afraid of cops I just will never trust them.

The cops cannot protect you.

In fact the Supreme Court has ruled that the police have absolutely no obligation to come to your aid. Any reasonable person would then make sure that he does not have to depend on the police to protect his life or property.

So really wtf are we paying for?

I trust local police
I have zero trust in any Federal police

OBama turned the FBI into the STASI

If I do not trust my doctor I never have to see him again. Not so with police officers.

And this has nothing to do with politics.
But it’s not responsive to the question

But you do you.

Being a bit more responsive to the OP question, let me out it this way:

I happen to like cops. I’ve worked with cops. Most cops are simply out there trying to do right by and for society. In general, I do trust cops.

That said, some cops aren’t worthy of much trust. Shoving a baton up a suspect’s rectum is contemptible regardless of the badge. Refusing to restrain a fellow. OP who is breaking the law like that is just as bad. Lying under oath at trial to obtain a conviction is absolutely disgraceful.

The vast majority of cops are still covering for bad cops.
