Zone1 do you like thunderstorms?

I used to stand out in thunderstorms and take pictures.

I still do. I have picture I took in Tucson that shows a lightning bolt hitting below me at a motel. I was on the 2nd floor, it hit the first.

I said no because I live in an area where every thunderstorm is a potential threat.
An example - in 2005, we lived in a house without a basement. We had 2 children, one was 5, the other 1.
A severe thunderstorm with potential went directly over us, it developed into a tornado, albeit a small one. It was late at night, so we can't see anything. We go into a closet that is in the center of the home. I am holding my 1 year old son, while also laying over my wife and 5 year old daughter. Doing what any good father would do - use his own body as a shield to protect them in the event it get's ugly. In the height of it as this small tornado is only about 30 yards from our house - the winds/suction of the tornado lifts the house off of it's foundation. I could feel the house moving. I had no idea what was going to happen.
I have never lived in a house without a basement again.
No - I do not like thunderstorms. They are not "cool" here.
