I do not trust either side to tell the honest truth about that war or pretty much everything else. Especially in an election year.

Understandable. The short version is this:
1. If Trump keeps the US blockade of Iran's oil they will bleed out in 3 or 4 months according to the CIA
2. Trump needs Project Freedom to open Hormuz to tanker traffic, if Hormuz opens Iran has no cards to play, if Iran can keep Hormuz closed its a matter of what happens to the global economy. Does it really matter, or are there other ways to get Gulf oil out? The stock markets are in rally mode, so looks good for our side.

While I'm sure Trump doesn't tell the whole truth on this (no president would), Iran can't be trusted on anything, absolutely nothing.
