When English reading people today read the creation account in Genesis some 5,700 years after it was written for some inane reason they believe it's a "history of the universe" or "How God made the Universe" narrative.
It is NOT.
It's religious. Meaning it is written so that mankind could learn the principles and concepts that we desperately need to know. Mankind is not going to be building any universes in the future or ever for that matter....much less 5700 years ago when reading and writing were a new fad happening around the world.
Then there's the obvious "day" thingy.
The Sun, Moon, and etc were not created until the 4th day. What actually constituted a 24hr period of time known today as a day are strictly up to God's purview....not ours or anyone else's.
Hebrew. The original language the Bible was written in is not similar to English whatsoever. Hebrew is a verb based metaphoric language. English is noun based and descriptive.
The very first line in Genesis really is not a complete sentence as Hebrew the root of "made" is "bara".
Bara is best described as a form of a prepositional verb....what I mean by that is that a material must be stated that you made something out of.
You can Bara a:
Stone table
Wood table
Metal table
So having God Bara heaven and earth is a backhanded poetic way of saying something was made out of nothing.
This is the very first line in the Bible And the poetic style of speaking doesn't get any flatter after this....it gets more complex as you get further into the writing.
And to somehow come away from reading the creation account but yet declare you know the minutia of timing details of how everything was precisely created?
That takes hubris. I seriously don't think I would ever have that volume of hubris.
