Do you agree that the Bengals have "failed Joe Burrow"?

I looked at the videos of Joe Burrow's last two major injuries. The sack last week was a freak play where a rusher wrapped up around his ankle nothing crazy. And the finger injury 2 years ago was a non-contact injury that happened when he just threw a normal pass. Instead of blaming the O-line or the "Bengals organization" for Burrows injuries, maybe there is another reason. Maybe he's just fragile.

Don't just look at Joe Burrow's injuries, look at the QB before him, Carson Palmer.

After Palmer recovered from his injury, he was never quiet the same, which is sad because on any other team he wins a Super Bowl.

Palmer, though, refused to play for him when he made his comeback and opted to forfeit $50 million and just sit the bench instead. He was later traded away and had a modest showing after, but like I said, he was never the same.

I think that Palmer and Burrow should get together and file a class action law suit against the Bungles due to lack of job safety issues. Burrow has been hit more times over the years than any other QB in the NFL, not even close.

I don't remember Carson Palmer's injury scenario, but in the last two big Joe Burrow injuries I didn't see a "systemic failure" of the Bengals. I saw a fragile QB hurt on seemingly innocuous plays.

Joe Burrow never gets good pass protection.

I tend to agree, but I'm not sure this is correct.

For the past two years, Brock Purdy has had to face opponents with an O-line that was less than acceptable.

He managed to get out free of injury -- excluding the NFC championship game -- but his numbers have suffered for the bad O-lin and the missing McCafferty.

I surely love Shanahan as Head Coach, but the asshole can't see a Spagnola blitz if Spagnola emailed it to him seconds before the play!

Purdy has been out for a couple of weeks with an injury and won't play this week, I don't see people jumping on the 49ers organization for "failing Brock Purdy". Burrow gets sacked a lot no question but is that all the O lines fault, or the "organization's fault"? Maybe Burrow hangs in the pocket too long or like I said maybe he's just one of those fragile guys.

The honest truth is that I've followed football since the 1970s and either I'm crazy or players today are paid far more, are coddled far more, and get injured far more. I remember guys playing with broken noses, gashes, bloody, teeth hanging out--- these days I see highly trained, prepared, top salary players go out on the field, their first game of the season after months of training camp, etc., and get season-ending injuries over seemingly nothing.

Any other team and Burrow wins a Super Bowl

As it stands, he career will be cut short and as he will never attain the level of equally talented QB's in the game.

But hey, he is rich so who cares?

Right?

Thing is, guy are so fast and strong these days it may cost you your life or serious injury the rest of your life.

I'm saying that sometimes there is no one to blame. Maybe the hits have caused an accumulation of injuries on him, who knows? I admire Burrow and recognize his elite abilities. At 6 4" he would do well with 20 more pounds at least.

I'd like to see what he could do with a better surrounding cast, but he will never be a gamer like Hurt or Mahomes.

Maybe if Chase and Higgins didn't demand such massive contracts, there would have been plenty of money to add some talent to the O-Line. :dunno:

Cincinatti has a reputation of being frugal while San Francisco pays up.

Isn't his latest injury turf toe? I thought there was a consensus to get rid of turf.

I remember when Big Ben played the Ravens in Baltimore back in 2010, and Ngata broke his nose during the game. Not only did he not sit out, but he also led the Steelers to a 4th quarter comeback.

I heard his surgery is later today. It was also my understanding that such an injury was stress, and the best way to heal it is to refrain from the activity that caused it. Which reminds me of a joke.

Patient: Doc, it hurts when I do that.
Doctor: Then don't do that.

It's a hyper-extension of the big toe, not just stress.
