Do we really need a POTUS?

SJ: You caught me! I was hypothesizing about the range of complaints against Obama. I've heard slurs against him touching on those points, but not from you. Mea Culpa! However, your accusations of dictatorship and 'making laws' and seizing power are all without example that can be challenged or compared to Presidents you favor. It's like slinging against a wall to see what sticks. Can you provide examples of your distress?
How many times did he unilaterally change provisions of the ACA? THAT is making law. He does not have the authority to do that.
Also, EOs were not intended to be used to make law but that's exactly what he does. "I have a pen and I have a phone and I'm prepared to act if Congress does not". Only the sycophants who shovel Obama's shit behind him will deny that Obama has used presidential powers that were not intended for the purpose of making law to do just that.

Hell how many times has he made sweeping changes in energy policy ignoring the will of the people via their representatives in congress? He just decides on his own to ruin the coal industry, block oil pipelines, change immigration laws, one man pretending he has the power of congress does that sound like representative government?
Blues, are you talking about releasing energy permits for more drilling? I thought that was the will of the (right wing) people. Or is the complaint that the issue was not carte blanche, as in drill national parks, or timber harvest in national forests...the old meanie! Ruin the coal industry by demanding clean coal? I admit I don't recall if Congress voted down the pipeline or it was an EO, but he didn't CHANGE an immigration law, he upheld one from a previous admin. Do you think stopping a gang of armed adults terrorizing kids on a schoolbus is changing the law? And the 'pretending he has the power of congress' part is pure spin machine output.

Okay you need an education on Obama got it. Lets begin with the letter two Democrat senators from West Virginia sent to Obama early in his first term. Are you aware of this letter? Are you aware how furious these two senators were with Obama over what he did? How many jobs he cost West Virginia?
Blue, I do not know the content of the W Va Senators letters, nor would I ever condemn them for fighting for their people's livelihood. But sooner or later we will be off coal. And the State of W Va, if I have read properly, is darn near ruined as a result of mining, its miners gasping for life as the coal companies screw them out of benefits and pensions, streams blocked by slurry and poisoning livestock, and mountaintops shaved off and dumped onto valleys. This is the picture I have by reading up on coal mines and I am genuinely saddened that this beautiful State is so impoverished even with this resource that has enriched a few. But they could learn from SE Michigan, who sunk all its hopes in auto manufacture and got left twisting in the wind when the factories got old beyond updating and the robots did jobs better and the grass was greener in other parts. Texas revived itself with space programs and technology when oil and cattle ran its course. The Carolinas survived the loss of textiles and Maine survived the loss of canneries. Other places have done the same too. And W VA as well as Michigan is just going to have to adjust or go under. It's a 'what have you done for me lately' world, blue, and it isn't because of the CIC. We either go with the flow or we stagnate no matter who is in the Oval Office.

We will be off coal? What are we going to switch to magic pixy dust power? The problem is you are woefully uninformed when it comes to the lawlessness and corruption of the Obama administration. The new coal mine in West Virginia spent years and millions of dollars complying with every damn government regulation and requirement, then on the eve of opening the mine Obama and his goon squad of enviro-Nazis swooped in and invented a bunch of new EPA regulations and requirements at the last minute dooming the project. That's why the senators from West Virginia were so hopping mad.

but your original post blames Obama for everything from Fed land ownership to ISIS atrocities to the condition of American education, to the de-fanging of ATF and every other piece of legislation since Teddy Roosevelt.
Here's my original post. Where did I say any of those things?

His job is to carry out the laws passed by Congress. He was never meant to be a dictator (like Obama). He was never meant to MAKE laws (like Obama). He was meant to be part of the balance of power, not THE power. This is why WE, THE PEOPLE need to step in and stop the corruption.

sj, the ACA will be tweaked for years to come, just like Medicare was. As for EOs, I suppose you think Snopes is a tool of opposition, but just for the heck of it, peruse this: FALSE: Executive Orders
It's not within his authority to tweak it. And yeah, Snopes is a liberal mouthpiece so you have nothing there. And Obama's EOs have been very public so please don't try to convince me he didn't issue them when I watched him announce them on national television.
SJ, It appears we cannot agree, but I thank you for your responses. It is important that we speak up for what we believe.

Every business needs a CEO, so does the country. Someone needs to set direction and be cheer leader and representative of the country. Obama set a direction by wanting to change the greatest country in the world, his words. Not all presidents are going to be Reagan some are just piss poor. But that is why we have checks and balances. Congress, and the SCOTUS were designed so that the president does not become a dictator. In my opinion they have failed in that duty over the last 8 to 12 years.

All that said, yes, we need a President.
...maybe the 50 governors should get together...
i understand your meaning of "get together".., but....., does anyone think those 50 people would ever really "get together"?? there would be as much fighting over the appointment as we now have with the "appointment" of a president.., agree? disagree?

Would replacing POTUS with 50 Governors mean we'd have 50 armies, 50 currencies, 50 treaties with foreign governments, 50 Constitutions etc?

We need a President, yes.
However, he shouldn't have the power of the pen. Except maybe naming parks or something. Their power is too much now. Congress voting on giving his fast track trade authority? Are you fuckin kidding me? Amnesty with a pen? Are you fuckin kiddin me? Banning certain weapons/restricting with a pen? Are you fuckin kiddin me?

With...gag...TRUMP?
Are you against securing the border? Deporting illegals? Banning muslims?

I fully support securing the border and deporting illegals. Banning an entire religion from entering our country because a very small fraction of their population is violent? No.
I have no problem with banning ANYONE from war torn countries. Especially since we cant vet them..

Of course we can vet them. Ask them if they are terrorists. If they say no that's good enough for me.

well they would have to understand that part of a governors job would be every 4 years they get together have a few days to discuss WHO that person should be,not more than say 5 candidates, and then they vote, the one with the most votes is the new pres.......and it should also be know that if that person proves to be incompetent...they can be removed....

incompetence is completely a subjective matter. How could we develop a fair system to establish that?

Do we really need a POTUS?

Not a Republican.
your right dean, but let me also say what your not allowed to say....we dont need a democrat one too.....we need one who can give a rats ass about those fucking parties and cares more about this country than you party people do....
