I think that is a fair point, and that comes down to the point I keep trying to make and that is this: get on Congress to fix this antiquated disfunctional system. And this is where I feel the right fails. There seems to be very little effort to push Congress (who are the only ones that can really fix things) to do their job. I don’t think they really want to change the status quo because it gives them major leverage whaen it comes to ginning up the base at election time. They want to build walls, take their children, incarcerate them, make them wait in crime infested dumps while the broken system creaks and trundles along delivering political fodder.

We need to update tbe laws and only Congress can do that.

You will get no argument from me that we have a legal immigration system that is woefully inadequate and tangled in bureaucracy. I do not agree that is a GOP failure or even a DEM failure when it comes to immigration REFORM. The reason nothing ever happens on reform is the same reason nothing ever happens to fix our inner cities that have become drug war zones. No political points to be scored in fixing the problem so both parties focus on other things and the problems never get solved.

Good point. But it doesn’t cancel my point. In those occupations listed above, a quarter to almost half are not native born. There are not enough American workers willing to fill those jobs and the share of illegal workers has actually increased over the years.
