SOP in every military is that if some threat comes toward you, your bud, or the object or person you are there to protect you aim for the center of the target and fire enough rounds that the person posing the threat is stopped.

the IDF uses a 5.56 mm round. Akin to the US 22 CAl.

The IDF is not to be blamed if they use kindergarteners to carry bombs. It is the responsibility of the persons who loaded up the kindergartner with the bombs what happens to the kid. And since when the bomb detonates, the kid is dead anyway, the soldier is in no way responsible for the death that would happen within a range of 5 minutes anyway.
