Disappointed DOGE worker: "Government is not that inefficient"

Funniest stupid shit I've read on DOGE

We have Congressional Oversight and SecTreasury and until DOGE we were sending out TRILLIONS to places we couldn't audit

Any other country there would be firing squads; we're so ******* corrupt and both Parties fucked us over so much it's just, "Yeah, no biggie"
Yes, let's run smart audits to identify and rectify waste, fraud and abuse in federal government spending. No doubt such audits would find a GREAT DEAL of slop that we could clean up. I'm all for it, the sooner the better.

So, we do it like a SMART business would do it: We hire highly experienced, trained and accomplished forensic accountants who know the department they'll be covering like the back of their hand, to first prepare a standardized auditing template that can be used semi-annually or quarterly across the government.

Then those auditors will conduct full audits, gathering all pertinent information. Then all of that infomation and data are carefully organized and analyzed to identify waste, fraud and abuse.

Then a specific plan is created to implement cuts and changes based on the careful analysis, reviewed carefully, and presented to Congress with all supporting materials to discuss, find and fix problems, and approve.

Then the approved plan is carefully implemented, monitored and revised as needed going forward.

I'd estimate the whole process would take 10 to 14 months. THAT is how a SMART business would approach this.

As compared to the absolutely ridiculous, inconsistent, splashy, sloppy, massively flawed, chainsaw-waving shit show we just witnessed. But I know the flock thinks it's been real cool 'n stuff.

The Grift will continue until there are consequences

Both Parties to blame

It's a national embarrassment that DOGE uncovered so much flakey activity just by taking a look at what was going out the door

Both political Parties should be charged under RICO

Change like what most of us are envisioning, isn’t going to happen on a full scale, until the DC class is forced to do so.

we should have put together a solid and scalable audit plan utilizing people experienced in the specific area, with a tight schedule of regular audits.
In other words let's try the same failed processes that created the Federal monster and hope for a different result.

In your mind, sure. Not even close to what I actually said, so the "other words" are yours only.

Your perceptions are warped. Not my problem.

LOL that was EXACTLY what you said but feel free to "clarify". DOGE is the dream team. Have you watched any of the interviews of the team? Have you read any of their findings? You are the classic I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT TRUMP Democrat. No objectivity whatsoever.

The government is more efficient than the private sector. And if Americans would quit electing people who believe that government has no place and works to make government useless, we'd be better off.

We don't need the change people like you envision because it's based on an imaginary America that never existed.

Again, if the goal is covertly prop up the democrat party, which was what USAID was all about, then it runs smoothly.

But when it comes to distributing Obamacare out when the time came, nothing seemed to work because all the internet sites were all screwed up because the bureaucrats could have cared less.

Another example is the VA, the model of state-run health care democrats salivate over forcing us all to have. You have repeated scandals about how veterans are not treated well in the VA, but who cares when Congress has the best health care the world can offer? The list is endless really, from veterans from Vietnam being denied care from Agent Orange to veterans being denied care for the Gulf War Syndrome, etc. But perhaps one of the best was the Arizona VA scandal where veterans were put on secret "do not treat" lists because they felt ill staffed and ill equipped to deal with them, so they just let them die alone and in pain.

Obama later apologized for it and fired some bureaucrat that had nothing to do with it, thus nothing was ever fixed.

Yes friends, this is the health care they want to force on us all. And the way the DNC has weaponized the government of late, God help you if you need medical care and you are a MAGA supporter of any kind.

Meanwhile, those in Congress have such great health care they all live to be 105 and we can't get rid of them as they all die in office.
Bullshit. Obama wanted to give Americans the same health choices congress had. Republicans stood in the way. Democrats hven't weaponized a damn thing. I get real tired of white pieces of shit blaming Obama for things when you're in the party that hasn't presented a health care plan. STFU you moron.

We always need to keep government costs as efficient as possible. But this silly, hyperbolic "all government is bloated and corrupt" crap that has been pounded into the Right for so long is shallow thinking at best.

Instead of chainsaws and cameras and rallies, we should have put together a solid and scalable audit plan utilizing people experienced in the specific area, with a tight schedule of regular audits. But that wasn't showbiz enough, of course.

Anyway:

VA-based DOGE associate gets ‘the boot’ after publicly discussing his work

“I would say the culture shock is mostly a lot of meetings, not a lot of decisions,” Lavingia told Fast Company in the piece, which also noted that he noticed the number of mission-driven people working in government. “But honestly, it’s kind of fine—because the government works. It’s not as inefficient as I was expecting, to be honest. I was hoping for more easy wins.”
You realize under Trump 45 there was an effort much like DOGE that cleaned up a lot of the VA mess?

No wonder it's working like he said.

LOL nice try Mac.

A good friend of mine works at the VA. He says it is WAY too big. His job is totally remote and he says he has almost nothing to do all day.

Plenty of agencies are bloated.

Few actually need more funding.

Fallacy of hasty generalization (look it up, thehawk).

I heard that podcast as well. My favorite part was when he met Musk (or maybe it was like Musky’s right hand) and when asked what they were looking for, they were never told anything specific...just to turnover as many rocks as they could.

I helped many businesses over the years audit the living shit out of themselves to find room for efficiencies and cost-cutting.

What these people did was THE EXACT OPPOSITE of the way it should be done. This was about adrenaline and showbiz.

As usual.

Why would I throw a temper tantrum?

What is there to report? DOGE has already determined many positions can be cut.

My friend also has his own business on the side, he really doesn’t even need the government job if he were to lose it. Plus he can easily get another job at another agency.
