To summarize: I'm liberatarian as an ideal, not "a libertarian" which I take to mean the LP. But for the last ten years, it is democracy/republicanism that has been at stake and that over-rides the many ideological differences I have with both parties.

Libertarian would be the ideal form of government, meaning a return to the very small government the founders envisioned, without the social restrictions and of course the slavery. But of course not all libertarians believe in that definition, as you said.

Those of us who do believe that are such a small minority that voting for (L), even if the candidate is a good one is wasteful.

People who vote their own conscience, win or lose, never wastes their vote.
Political loyalist, always waste their vote, win or lose.
IE.. Those who voted for Kamala, wasted their vote because they voted for someone who didn't win.
Those who voted for Trump, expecting he'd MAGA... Also wasted their vote. The only thing they actually won, was their ability to say they voted for the one who won the election.
