We always need to keep government costs as efficient as possible. But this silly, hyperbolic "all government is bloated and corrupt" crap that has been pounded into the Right for so long is shallow thinking at best.

Instead of chainsaws and cameras and rallies, we should have put together a solid and scalable audit plan utilizing people experienced in the specific area, with a tight schedule of regular audits. But that wasn't showbiz enough, of course.

Anyway:

VA-based DOGE associate gets ā€˜the boot’ after publicly discussing his work

ā€œI would say the culture shock is mostly a lot of meetings, not a lot of decisions,ā€ Lavingia told Fast Company in the piece, which also noted that he noticed the number of mission-driven people working in government. ā€œBut honestly, it’s kind of fine—because the government works. It’s not as inefficient as I was expecting, to be honest. I was hoping for more easy wins.ā€

If he believes government is not that inefficient than he has either worked for slow, legacy corporations with unlimited cash or he is trolling

The US Government has its problems, but for the most part does a pretty damn good job... at least when Democrats are in office. Because Democrats appoint those who believe in government and want to make it better, as opposed to Pubs, especially MAGAs, who just want to destroy it.

In other words, our government is so good at robbing us that it's hard to spot. I could believe that, but not accept it.

Government is extremely efficient when it is an objective they want accomplished.

For example, with DOGE we saw million and millions of dollars being dispersed all across the globe to spread the DEI gospel, along with news agencies being paid to........well.............report the news the way the government likes it to be reported. It was not only done efficiently, but it was also done covertly which was key, because as soon as Americans realize where their tax dollars really are going, then all hell would break lose.

Government agencies may appear to be in shambles and shells of their former selves, but when the US government wanted to beat the Russians to the moon for PR purposes, it operated like a well-oiled machine.

It's all about motivation really.

Government, by nature, is inefficient.

What was this guy expecting and did he provide any good examples.

Additionally, it can be efficient at inefficient (non productive) goals.

My experience with government is that it is a mess.

Again, if the goal is covertly prop up the democrat party, which was what USAID was all about, then it runs smoothly.

But when it comes to distributing Obamacare out when the time came, nothing seemed to work because all the internet sites were all screwed up because the bureaucrats could have cared less.

Another example is the VA, the model of state-run health care democrats salivate over forcing us all to have. You have repeated scandals about how veterans are not treated well in the VA, but who cares when Congress has the best health care the world can offer? The list is endless really, from veterans from Vietnam being denied care from Agent Orange to veterans being denied care for the Gulf War Syndrome, etc. But perhaps one of the best was the Arizona VA scandal where veterans were put on secret "do not treat" lists because they felt ill staffed and ill equipped to deal with them, so they just let them die alone and in pain.

Obama later apologized for it and fired some bureaucrat that had nothing to do with it, thus nothing was ever fixed.

Yes friends, this is the health care they want to force on us all. And the way the DNC has weaponized the government of late, God help you if you need medical care and you are a MAGA supporter of any kind.

Meanwhile, those in Congress have such great health care they all live to be 105 and we can't get rid of them as they all die in office.
