Did you ever electrocute a hot dog?

No microwaves in the 70s? I thought they became a thing in the 60s
I never knew anyone who had one before the late 80's. I think we got one around then too.

My grandfather was the last person on his block to buy a TV in 1955, not because he couldn't afford it but because he didnt want a box of media, advertising and propaganda blabbering away in his house. He finally gave in because the whole family kept hounding him. I was born in '71 with that same B&W TV still blabbering away there. 😆

The electric company I work for uses a version of this as an electrocution experiment on our electric safety trailer that we take around to elementary schools

Ick! They were just heated up, if I remember correctly.

I really preferred a campfire for cooking dogs.

I remember a time shortly after we got married. A Sunday, watching football and having a few beers. I put one in a saucepan on the stove and proceeded to fall asleep on the couch. LOL, I woke up sometime later to a house full of smoke. The pan was boiled dry and the hot dog was black and shriveled. The wife was fit to be tied. The aluminum cladding on the bottom of the new Farberware was separated. LOL. Exciting pre-microwave times.

The first VCR i bought in the early 80's when they started being introduced cost $1200 (Canadian}. It's like that with most electronics.
I've spent more on the 'newest' tech over the years than I like to think about. Wire recorders, transistor radios, reel to reel tape, 4 track, 8 track, cassette, Stereo vinyl, quadraphonic vinyl, beta/vhs, top loaders and front loaders, cds, dvd, blue ray, computers, jump drives, LOL and the list goes on and on.

And they all became obsolete. How many turntables do they sell now. If a young person looked at your list of things they wouldn't have a clue what most of them are.
