9:50 am: Trump administration wants an $850 billion stimulus plan, reports say
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin heads to the Capitol today to discuss a third coronavirus response package with Senate Republicans as policymakers try to stave off economic calamity.

The Trump administration wants an $850 billion economic stimulus plan, Politico and The Washington Post reported. The White House’s proposal would include about $50 billion in aid to an airline industry battered by the global pandemic, according to the Post.

Congress already passed $8.3 billion in emergency funding to help stop the coronavirus disease’s spread. A separate plan to expand paid leave benefits, boost unemployment insurance and make testing more affordable is working its way through the Capitol this week. —Jacob Pramuk

The mistake being to refuse to cooperate with Dems in the wake of the financial crisis by constantly trying to shrink the size of stimulus packages. As much as anything this caused the weak, prolonged recovery the Repubs blamed on Obama. This proposal is just another example of epic hypocrisy.

Will the democrats ever learn to stop whining?
Will you ever stop being in denial of the facts?

House Passes Stimulus Plan With No G.O.P. Votes
House Passes Stimulus Plan With No G.O.P. Votes

WASHINGTON — Without a single Republican vote, President Obama won House approval on Wednesday for an $819 billion economic recovery plan as Congressional Democrats sought to temper their own differences over the enormous package of tax cuts and spending.

As a piece of legislation, the two-year package is among the biggest in history, reflecting a broad view in Congress that urgent fiscal help is needed for an economy in crisis, at a time when the Federal Reserve has already cut interest rates almost to zero.

Pelosi passed the bill. Now the two who couldn't pass a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare want to do it over. And the reality is Schumer will have to pass the thing with less than 50 gopers on board, and McConnell and Trump will claim credit. Schumer better put some shit in there that'll draw blood on Obamacare

Of course they do. McTreason knows he looks like the piece of shit he is for sending the Senate home over the w/e. And generally for dismissing the importance of quickly passing an aide bill.

Pelosi sat on the first relief bill for four days so her cohorts could go on the Sunday shows and bash Trump...did you learn anything from that?....

I do think there is a big difference between bailing out those who caused the crisis as in 2008 and regular people.

That being said 850 billion? We are moving towards hyper inflation...

Democrats get to bring up all the GOP quotes about how the Obama Stimulus was all just pork, a giveaway, socialism

I'm no Trump fan, but he seems to finally be taking this virus seriously and accepting what America's going to have to do. He's essentially telling McConnell he needs what Pelosi passed plus another 850billion. And I'm guessing that's for bailing out corporations like airlines. I like airlines too. But Pelosi went pretty cheap with sick leave and unemployment insurance. If Trump wants to use Obamacare for testing and covering treatment, he should have to pay the price. Or at least some price.

Dems had large majorities in both the House and Senate.
Republicans couldn't shrink anything.

No one causes a virus.

I am referring to the banking crisis.

We really need to find smart alternatives to just papering over everything. Flexibility is key here...

Here's what I learned that you did not. The original bill was business-centric and was changed to make it people-centric. It would not have passed if the Repubs didn't realize Pelosi's version was the right thing to do. But they still had to wait for the Orange Fraud to give the OK.
