You’re not following very good. Trump and Biden receive historic high votes because CoVID had the entire country engaged. Trump held that engagement as an opposition candidate and running on lies of stolen election and scortched earth. Biden got old and dropped out of the race a few months before the election. Kamala stepped in and couldn’t capture the enthusiasm or engagement.

Using your baseball analogy, if the baseball player had a good year but came up short from the 35 hr, it still may remove the outlier label from the 35. For example, if the player hit 32 hr instead of 45, that makes 35 not an outlier.

35 and 32 are close enough but 81mil is a notable outlier. I d Have to see a few more elections to truly gauge it. For now it is an outlier
