Pentecost, celebrated 50 days after Easter Sunday, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem for the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31).
If you read the story carefully you will see that a mighty wind burst through the door and "tongues of fire" (plural) appeared that settled above each of their heads ."

:aug08_031:

This event marks the fulfillment of Jesus' promise to send the Holy Spirit to guide, empower, and advocate for His disciples, leading to the birth of the Christian Church.
No. Jesus said that the Spirit of truth, The Advocate, Comforter, Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whatever, would be sent by God to do specific things. Whatever you think the Holy Ghost is has not done even one of those specific things in 2000 years that Jesus said that HE would be sent by God to do. The world has not been confuted, by Him showing where wrong and right and judgment lie, The Jewish people have not been convicted that it was wrong to refuse to believe in Jesus, the Jewish people have not been convinced by any invisible ghost that Jesus was right, and even the most openly professed "believers" of any religion do not know and have not been convinced that the prince of this world stands condemned. They don't even know what the hell that means.

So how do you resolve this? Is the Holy Spirit sleeping? On vacation? Never got the memo? Did he go AWOL?

All I have seen is people claiming to be filled with the Holy Spirit flailing about squeaking and gibbering like idiots

If you believe thats what God sent 2000 years ago, an invisible disembodied entity that makes people act and look insane, you have been schnookered. That bizarre behavior is the behavior of the demonically possessed.

Spreading a virulent thought contagion, oozing from their frothing mouths like a foul and smelly discharge.

No. The Catholic Church began hundreds of years after Christ's death. Peter started Christ's church, in Jerusalem, where 3,000 were saved that day on Pentecost.

Acts 2:41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.

Acts 4:4 But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand.

Peter stayed in Jerusalem and preached there for 15 years.
Theists Should Keep Their Day Jobs

The Romans and their High Priest flunkies allowed the chief assistant to a condemned criminal to run around preaching Jesus's heresy? As usual, this fictional narrative is full of contradictions and would never get published today.

Stalin, Lenin, Mao, and Pol Pot were the high priests of atheist communism. How did that work out. 120 million slaughtered

Or am I getting my cults of power-mad anti-semites mixed up?
You are not mixing them up. They have all been mixed together in an orgy of hatred that gave birth to a giant perverse foul and loathsome huffing and puffing beast claiming to make America great again, you know the good old days when antisemitism was promoted by the church, Jew jumping and gay bashing were national sports, misogyny a way of life, and sacrificing your children to Moloch by lobotomizing them was a happy celebration.

Jesus spoke to Peter: You are the rock, and on this rock I will build my church!
Yes. He did. And Peter did build His church. In Jerusalem. The Bible tells us where and when. 15 years later, when he was jailed by Herod, an angel freed him.
Paul had some questions to be resolved, circumcision being one, so he went to see Peter, whom he had not seen in years. They disagreed so they decided that Peter would stay to the north, and Paul would preach to the south. And they did.

Hid His Megalomania by Taking the Latin Name for "Small"

Paul, as Saul, couldn't get anywhere in the Hebrew hierarchy, so he took over this new group with the goal of becoming a rich and powerful Pope. He abandoned circumcision and kosher regulations in order to get rid of the cult's Jewish aspects and appeal to the Greeks and Romans.

Like Karl Marx, just because he failed to become an absolute ruler doesn't mean he never had that as his only goal in life.
We'll never know Paul's true motivations but it almost certainly wasn't becoming a rich and powerful Pope. In his time there were no Popes nor any real church organization nor any great number of Christians. Like Jesus, he believed the end times were imminent so money would be useless.

He did preach that pagans didn't have to become Jews to be Christian. Had he not prevailed, Christianity would likely have remained a tiny minority in the Jewish world.

Did Jesus establish a Church or not?

I struggled for years thinking I'd never find the answer to this question... sinning along the way, of course.

I needed Jesus's Church and because I didn't have it... my life became a mess.

So everyone needs to find His Church and join it
